I start to float off the ground, rising up into the air, as my head extends back and my arms come out at my sides. One hand forms a ball of fire and the other produces a ball of electricity. Revenge and taking the life of the man who took Hunter from me are all that's on my mind. I teleport outside of the barrier and begin taking out every person that becomes an obstacle between me and the man who needs to die.

He knows I’m coming, and he’s happy about it. I can feel the glee emanating from him. He thinks he can still control me, but no one can. I am my own person and I’m ready for everyone to realize it now that I have.

The closer I get, I see Hugo move in front of him. Yeah, he’s going to pay as well. Whether he was the one who tortured my best friend and mate or not. He helped in stealing us away from our home and delivering us to Mr. Michaelson.

My focus is on the two ahead of me as I cut a path through the chaotic battle. I keep moving forward, tuning everything out, even the masculine voice screaming my name, telling me to stop, I can’t. I need to avenge Hunter so his life wasn’t lost in vain.

The battle around me is catastrophic, but it appears there are more injuries on the other side. I fear we would have lost if it wasn’t for the two mystery men and I intend to find out who they are when this is over. My heart beams with pride for those fighting on our side. They are good and fierce warriors.

I stop about three feet in front of Hugo, who’s raking his eyes over me, no doubt imagining me back in chains. That’s never fucking happening.

“Well, well, little witch. So good to see you again,” he says with excitement.

If I could, I’d roll my eyes back in my head at his response, but he’s not who I want. It’s the bastard standing behind him. Flicking my hand through the air, I create a mini tornado, shooting it directly at him as it engulfs him inside of it, and spins away.

Casting my eyes back on Mr. Michaelson, I see the euphoric look on his face that one has after an orgasm.

“Oh sweet Shayna, you seem to have come into your powers and are wielding them with such expertise. I was right in my recent decision to keep you for myself and bypass that traitorous pussy son of mine. Come with me and I’ll make you the most feared woman in the world as I keep you pregnant with our children. My granddaughter does need siblings. Where is she, by the way?” His words make me want to vomit.

“YOU WILL NEVER GET YOUR HANDS ON MY DAUGHTER!” I scream at a high decibel, causing him to raise his hands to his ears in pain.

I feel the spell in me and don’t even need to chant. All I need to do is just think about it and a barrier appears around us, enclosing me and Mr. Michaelson inside of it.

Damien

I don’t know who these two fuckers are that appeared, but they are helping to reduce our opponents, and fuck if I’m going to complain. Well, not at the moment, but it’s killing me not knowing who the fuck they are.

My attention is pulled when I see Shay pop in and then out again, taking Levi with her. Someone’s been hurt. It’s the only reason she would have come and got him. Looking around while still throwing defensive potions out, taking out the witches near me, I see her reappear across the field and I gasp.

I don’t know who it is, but someone is on the ground and a huge piece of wood is sticking out of them. Where Beba is standing blocks my view of the person's face. Looking around I see Hunter and Ryder are out of sight. Could it be them over there? God, please let them be okay.

I don’t have time to think about it anymore as a witch with a lot of power comes at me, shooting fire, as she chants. I need to do something now. I’m not sure what she’s chanting, but I’m frozen in place, unable to move and I start to panic.

She’s right in front of me, and try as I might, I can’t get my arms to move so I can reach for a potion to knock her off guard long enough to free myself. What I don’t expect is her fucking head exploding, covering me in blood and brain matter, as her body drops limply to the ground. I look around to find my savior to see one of those fuckers that popped in. He has these eery silver eyes that seem to swirl and they freak me the fuck out. He gives me a nod and then shoots off back into the chaos of the fight.

Shaking my arms and kicking my legs out, I take a moment to take pleasure in being able to move again before looking back toward Shay. She’s fucking hovering in the air and then she disappears. Panic ensues as I worry about where the hell she went. She had fucking flames and something else in her hand that I couldn’t see and not to mention floating in the air. When the hell did she learn to do that shit?

My eyes rapidly roam the area, and then I see her. She’s in front of Mr. Michaelson and his psycho right-hand man Hugo. I call out to her, but either she can’t hear me or she’s ignoring me. I move toward her, weaving in and out of the mass of people trying to make my way to her. I don’t know what’s going on, but there’s no way she’s taking him on alone. What the hell happened over there that they just let her leave by herself to take him on?

Seeing the others have this handled, I race as fast as I can across to her. If she’s on a suicide mission, there’s no way in hell I’m letting it happen. We can win this, especially with these new guys and her ever-growing powers.

The closer I get, the more I can sense a change in her just before she sticks out her hand. A tornado appears in front of her, engulfing Hugo in it. I keep calling for her but it doesn’t phase her.

I’m running as fast as I can, heading straight toward her when I run into a wall that sends me flying backward onto my ass.

What the hell?

I see them inside the barrier in a standoff. He looks happy as fuck, and she looks pissed. I know he locked her in there to keep us from being able to help her. “SHAY! SHAY!” I scream out to her. Come on, baby, talk to me.

“Go away, Damien,” comes from her in a voice so cold.

“NO! I’m going to find Tala or one of the witches and break through this barrier. I’m going to save you from him. Just hold tight.” I try to turn and run away and find Tala, but I can’t move. Once again, I’m frozen in place.

“No need Damien. I made the barrier,” she says, her voice void of all emotion but anger laced with sadness.

She looks past me, eyes glowing emerald green, before appearing beside me, my frozen state dissolving, causing me to stumble. She flicks her hand at the witch that was coming up behind me and she freezes him, then throws another blast at him, shattering him into a million tiny pieces like glass exploding.

She lets her eyes roam the fight in front of her. Wolves, vampires, fae, and witches all fight for her. For Chelle. For what’s right, ensuring that dark magic never gets to rule.
