He had to remind himself that she was his damn ex-girlfriend who had betrayed him. He didn’t owe her loyalty anymore. If anything, he should torture and punish her for betraying him.

But he wouldn’t. Because it would mean, he still cared, which he definitely didn’t.

She is just a damn job. I’ll be done with her when I finish the damn job.

CHAPTER 4

Two suitcases checked out of the hotel suite. Check.

Seasickness pills in handbag. Check.

Wear the oversized sunglasses.

Sitara slipped on the oversized sunglasses that hid her eyes and expression.

Check.

Brace yourself. Check.

Taking a deep fortifying breath, she stepped out of her hotel suite and took the lift to the topmost floor where the helipad was situated.

Despite bracing herself, her heart thudded like a drum.

Remember to ignore him. It’s only a two-hour ride to the cruise ship.

Even as she trained her mind, the moment she saw a tall, broad form standing next to the helicopter in his aviator glasses, her heart jerked violently.

Unlike the previous night when he was wearing a suit, he was now wearing a pilot uniform. He looked so much like the boy she had madly fallen in love with that it knocked her breath away.

Right from the moment they met when they were teenagers, Aarav always had the ability to make her stomach flutter. Not even anger or other emotions could get rid of the strong attraction she felt towards him. And when they were a couple, they were always either touching or kissing or making love.

She sucked in a deep breath and quickly blocked her mind from thinking about those memories. She focused on the present.

He was currently talking to another man in a pilot uniform when his body suddenly went very still. He must have seen her too.

Feeling glad to be wearing the oversized sunglasses that hid her face, she sucked in another deep breath and went closer.

“Good morning, Dr. Narayan,” an older man with graying hair greeted cheerfully. “I am Captain Ravi Chandran.”

Sitara kept her gaze focused on the friendly face and smiled. “Good morning, Captain Chandran.”

“The weather is great today, Dr. Narayan. So, there won’t be any delay unless we are asked to wait for other possible choppers drop offs on the cruise ship helipad.”

“That’s good to hear, Captain Chandran,” she said.

Even though she tried to ignore or forget about the man standing next to Captain Chandran, the jerk wasn’t the kind to be ignored.

“Good morning, Dr. Narayan,” he drawled in a deep, mocking voice. “You are early. We haven’t started the engines yet.”

She was forced to look at him. Trying not to clench her teeth, she replied. “You asked me not to be late, Commander Rathod. You didn’t say anything about being too early.”

His mouth twisted at her taunt and also at the fact that she was addressing him as Commander Rathod.

She forcibly dragged her eyes away from him to look at the other man. “I sent my luggage here a few minutes ago.”

Captain Chandran nodded. “Yes, the suitcases have been placed inside along with Dr. Pathak’s bags.”

Dr. Pathak had texted her saying she was on a call that morning as well.
