“Dr. Pathak will be here shortly,” she murmured.

Luckily, both the pilots got in and began to start the preparations. Meanwhile, wanting to desperately distract her mind, she opened her cell phone and went through her schedule for the next thirteen days.

She barely focused on the screen because her heart kept racing, and she tried not to stare towards the helicopter. After a few torturous moments later, she heard a familiar feminine voice.

“Good morning,” Dr. Pathak greeted cheerfully.

Sitara was relieved. “Good morning, Dr. Pathak.”

Dr. Pathak looked at her and smiled. “I went back to the party, but I heard you left by then.”

“Yes. I was feeling a little tired from the summit and wanted an early night.”

“I guess that’s an okay excuse. But I hope you are looking forward to the vacation, young lady.”

Sitara smiled. “Yes, I am, Dr. Pathak.”

Soon, the luggage cart was brought by a bell boy. Dr. Pathak only had one large suitcase.

“I didn’t get to shop,” Dr. Pathak said with a smile. “But I intend to. I heard they have a top-of-the-line shopping places inside the cruise ship.”

Sitara had never been on a cruise ship before. She would have normally been excited about seeing one soon, but right then, she couldn’t drum up the excitement. She was too aware of the tall, arrogant and cocky pilot who was standing by the helicopter and watching her.

“We are ready to leave,” she said to him. “We don’t want to be late.”

Her tone came off as haughty, but she was both nervous and angry with his presence. She was still in shock that he strode into her life once again.

No! He’s not in your life again.

He was there to only drop off and leave in two hours.

“Sure, Dr. Narayan,” he drawled once again mockingly. “Do get in and we can get started right away.”

With her heart alternately aching and thudding angrily, she got into the helicopter and took one of the seats at the back.

She heard his deep voice as he greeted and introduced himself and his copilot to Dr. Pathak. The older woman cheerfully returned their greeting before joining her at the back.

The helicopter’s doors shut and she braced herself for the lift off as the engines turned on and blades began rotating outside. The sound was muffled once the door was shut. Soon, they were up in the air. The lift off was quite smooth and she could see the top of the hotel building before the helicopter began moving away.

Dr. Pathak kept a casual conversation going, explaining once again what to expect on the cruise. Sitara smiled and nodded and even replied, but all of her focus was on the cocky, arrogant pilot in the front, watching him from behind her sunglasses as he smoothly maneuvered the helicopter.

Her mind couldn’t help but go back to the time when she had first met him.

“Wait, you are the landlady who is an excellent cook?” the handsome guy asked.

Sitara frowned. She had gone upstairs to drop off homemade dessert to Dheeraj when she came across the handsome stranger. He was wearing a sleeveless t-shirt and shorts and looked entirely too comfortable and at home. Her home.

“Yes, I own this house,” she replied.

“How old are you?” he asked, his dark eyes sweeping over her face and body leisurely before returning to her face.

“It’s none of your business, but I’m nineteen,” she replied haughtily.

His mouth slowly twisted, making her stomach flutter in a strange way.

“Well, well, well…” he drawled. “I wonder why Dheeraj didn’t tell me his landlady is young and beautiful.”
