His eyes hooded even more at her declaration. “This isn’t the first time we slept on the same bed.”

Her cheeks heated at the reminder. Although he was supposed to be Dheeraj’s roommate in the rented flat above, he spent all his nights in her bed.

“That was different! We were together then. We are no longer together now!”

“What difference does it make?” he asked. “It’s only sleeping.”

“Of course, it makes a difference!” she shouted.

“Why?”

“Because… because…” she spluttered trying to find a reason.

“Are you worried you won’t be able to resist me?” he drawled.

“What!”

His mouth slowly twisted. “I don’t see a reason why we can’t share the bed unless you think you can’t resist me and would make a move on me like you always did when we shared a bed.”

“I… you…” She didn’t know what to say because it was true in the past. She had always found the jerk irresistible and missed him a lot when he was away to his university and later to his Air Force training. Pushing away the images of the past, she glared at him. “Why can’t you sleep on the living room sofa?” she demanded.

“It’s too narrow and short for me. But you are welcome to sleep on it. Last night, I put you on the bed because you were too drunk and tired. I thought you would be comfortable sleeping on a bed rather than on a sofa.”

Her face heated at the reminder. “I wasn’t drunk!”

His eyebrow lifted.

She had vague recollection of his muscled arm wrapped around her while he led her out of the restaurant after dinner. Why did she feel more had happened?

“I wasn’t drunk! I was tired, that’s all,” she lied.

His mouth twisted. “I see.”

He got out of bed. Luckily, he wasn’t naked. He thankfully had his shorts on. She didn’t need to see him naked to know how he looked without clothes. She knew from personal experience that he was big all over. And he had used every part of his body to drive her crazy with pleasure in the past.

Her stomach fluttered and the tips of her breasts hardened in arousal behind her dress as she recalled some of those memories.

Even though his face was handsome like a male model, he had a body of a warrior. His body had several scars from stitches and past injuries. She noticed several more since the last time she had seen him. Her fingers trembled slightly, wanting to touch the new scars. Controlling herself, she dragged her eyes away from his body.

But it was too late. He caught her staring and there was glint in his eyes.

“What are you thinking?” he asked, his deep voice sounding huskier.

Her cheeks heated. “It isn’t anything related to you,” she lied, hoping the goosebumps that erupted over her skin weren’t obvious.

“Are you sure?” he drawled.

“Yes! Why would I think about you? I hate you!”

His eyes flashed. “Good,” he drawled. “Although I recall specific memories of the times you declared your hate to me.”

Her face was on fire as those memories flashed in her mind as well. They had fought and broken up many times. She had screamed that she hated him, but only for him to change her mind using sex.

“Stop talking about the past! I no longer feel anything towards you.”

“I see. Then there is nothing for you to worry about.”

She glared at him. “I’m not worried.”
