“You are welcome, dear. And yes, I’ll take care. I’ll call you again only if there are important updates. Don’t worry and enjoy your vacation.”

Thanking her mentor once again, Sitara ended the call. She felt strange knowing there was no longer a need for Aarav to stay with her. But she was also relieved that she didn’t have to fight the attraction or the confusing feelings she felt towards him.

“It was a random burglary,” she said.

“Did the investigation team confirm that?”

She frowned at his question. “The investigation is still going on, but Dr. Pathak also thinks it might be a random burglary.”

He didn’t say anything.

She looked at him. “So, there is no need for us to prolong the charade anymore. I’m going to book another suite.”

“No.”

“What do you mean by no? Dr. Pathak just said she thinks—”

“I don’t care what anyonethinks. They have to confirm it for it to be real.”

“But—”

“Unless there is a proper confirmation, for which I’ll receive updates, we will continue as it is.”

She was annoyed. But short of pushing the bossy jerk off the cruise ship, there was nothing she could do to get rid of him.

CHAPTER 9

The jerk continued to drive her crazy.

“This is ridiculous. You don’t have to babysit me through every event!”

He didn’t seem bothered. He was buttoning the sleeves of his white shirt while watching her.

Her stomach fluttered seeing him in formal clothing. He looked sexy as hell and it made her more pissed off.

She didn’t want to be attracted to the bossy jerk who broke her heart.

“Are you ready?” he asked, giving her a sweeping glance.

She was wearing an ankle-length shimmering gold dress. She paired it with an antique gold bracelet that had been a gift from her parents. She also wore a thin gold chain with a matching pendant. The way his eyes hooded lingering over her cleavage, made the tips of her breasts harden and her stomach flutter.

The jerk must be deliberately torturing her, knowing the effect his presence had on her.

His mouth twisted as he put on the suit jacket while looking at her. “Let’s go.”

Gritting her teeth, she slipped on her heels and followed behind him. They stepped out of their cabin suite and took the lift to the live theater shows area, which was once again crowded. As he led her through the crowd to the reserved area section, his arm wrapped around her waist.

She shivered at the contact and her skin broke into goosebumps.

“I told you no touching!” she hissed.

He turned to look at her. “You said no unnecessary touching. This is necessary.”

She was about to argue when a woman’s familiar voice called.

“Oh hi, Sitara!”

It was Roopa Motiani. The woman she met earlier that day. Diamonds glittered from the woman’s ears, neck and hands. And the man standing next to her was in a suit, once again wearing a ridiculous-looking designer brooch shaped like another insect. He even wore a belt with a shiny gold buckle that had a brand logo in a not-so-subtle way.
