One Year Later
“Wake up,Sunflower. We’re going to be late.”
I bury my head in the pillow. “Don’t care,” I mumble.
Jake chuckles, his body hard and warm against my back. He drops a kiss on my exposed shoulder.
“Yes, you do. Now come on. Up.”
I open one eye and check the time on my phone and groan. 8:07 a.m.
Damn it, he’s right.
We’re expected at the Gold Mountain winery by nine thirty. My cousin Emma works there, and her fiancé owns the winery. When I moved back, they approached me about bringing me on as their Director of Marketing. I was thrilled to do it, and because they’re in the building stages, I’m the entire marketing department right now so I get to do all the things I’ve missed, including graphics and web design.
With the way it’s growing and the vision Shane has for the place, I’ll have to hire staff soon.
But today being Christmas Eve, my family is having a family breakfast so that we can all celebrate together. There are so many of us, and it seemed to be the one time we could all make work.
I’ve been looking forward to it.
