He laughed. “I know how to kiss.”

He loved how she remembered that night from years ago in vivid detail, just like he remembered it too. They’d been separated by fate, but their hearts had still beaten for each other only.

Avantika arched a delicate brow. “I think you need a refresher lesson.”

“No, I don’t!”

“Oh really? Why don’t you prove it then?”

He pulled her closer, wrapped an arm around her waist and kissed her smiling mouth. She melted into him like she always did.

He flicked a hand, and music filled the air around them. She shifted, and her head tilted to the side. Her wide, surprised eyes met his as‘I’ve had the time of my life’fromDirty Dancingplayed around them.

He lowered himself on one knee and removed a small velvet box from his pocket. Her hands flew to her mouth as she stared at the ring and then at him.

“Oh my God,” she shrieked, and her lips curved. “Yes. I will marry you.”

“Hey, I haven’t asked you yet!”

“It’s a yes to all your questions,” she said, helping him up and kissing him again. “I’m yours. I’ve always only been yours.”

He laughed, sliding the ring onto her finger.

“It’s my mom’s.” He stared at the large round diamond, encircled by smaller diamonds. “It belonged to her mom before her. And now it’s yours.”

“I love it.” She pecked his lips. “I love you, Mr. Luthra.”

“And I love you, Ms. Rajpoot. You are my forever and always. I will never stop loving you.”

He repeated his vow to her, made so many years ago on a cold winter night on an ice rink just like this one, albeit in another city, which was once home too.

Avantika touched her forehead to his.

“You remembered…” she said.

“I never forgot…anything.”

She grinned. God! He lived to see her smiles.

“She said yes,” Dev said aloud.

Avantika looked around them, eyes wide as their family came into view. They’d been hiding out of sight, waiting for him to propose.

“They’ve all been here?” she gasped. “What about dinner at Vihaan’s?

“Unfortunately, we will have to suffer Vihaan’s cooking.”

She laughed.

Neil whooped, entering the rink. He skated at full speed toward her and spun her with him. “I’m so happy, Mom.”

“So am I, my darling,” Avantika said.

Behind them, the rest of her family all entered, skating toward them. Only Shaurya and Myra remained outside. They’d all just recently learned that Myra was going to have a baby girl, and they all were waiting to welcome her into their world. That baby would be born surrounded by people who already loved and cared for her.

Aaryan and Vihaan came to Dev, patting his back, congratulating him, while Sanjana and Tiya fussed over Avantika’s ring.

Avantika returned to Dev, and all six of them skated together, goofing around for several minutes.
