Siren…

* * *

My heart is racing and I’m sweating once again when I finally lower the pen and notebook to the bed.

I stare at my own messy writing, second-guessing myself.

She probably doesn’t care about any of it.

Hell, I might never be brave enough to even allow her to know it exists, but I do feel better now I’ve got it out.

Leaving it where it is, I push from the bed and walk into my bathroom, only to find another mirror that brings back more memories of her.

My cock is aching once again by the time I’ve shaved the mess covering my jaw and stepped into the shower, but still, other than cleaning up, I don’t touch myself.

Is it some fucked-up kind of self-torture? Yeah, most definitely. But fuck it. It feels like the right thing to do. The next time I come, I want her to be in control of it. And not because I’ve given her little choice, but because she wants to. I want to say because she’s forgiven me, but I’m not sure that’s ever truly going to happen. But I can’t see a future for us where we’re not going to have to see each other, so she needs to be able to put up with me in some kind of form, and that includes the pleasure we both love taking from each other so much.

I’m redressing when my phone buzzes on my bed.

Walking over, I find a message in our group chat. I almost ignore it, assuming it’s just another bad joke from Alex, but when I spot Theo’s name as the sender, I pay it a little more attention.

Theo: My place now. There’s news.

My heart jumps into my throat and my hand trembles like a pussy as I unlock my phone and tap out a quick message that I’m on my way.

I pocket my phone before folding up my letter, scribbling Brianna’s name across the front of it and stuffing it into my jeans.

Theo’s flat is in silence when I let myself in. I’m hardly surprised that I’m here first, seeing as I’m the only other person on this floor.

As I make my way down the hallway, I start to wonder if he’s even here, it’s so quiet, but when I emerge into the living space, I find him standing in his kitchen with his palms on the counter and his head bowed.

Nothing about the way he’s standing fills me with any kind of joy.

“What’s going on?” I ask, hating how unsure my voice sounds.

He startles at my words, letting me know that he wasn’t aware of my presence, but by the time his eyes meet mine, he’s pulled his mask on and gives nothing away.

It’s too late, though. I’ve already seen it.

He looks behind me as if he wants to wait for the others to get here.

“Fuck them, bro. Just fucking tell me.”

“They’ve taken the bait.”

All the air rushes out of my lungs at his words.

“They believe Daemon and Ant are at the other location?” I ask, just to confirm I didn’t miss something else while I was out of it this weekend.

“Yep. Enzo has heard them talking… planning.”

“When? How? What are they—”

A door slams behind me before voices fill the space, cutting off my questions. They’re going to have exactly the same ones in about thirty seconds, so I may as well wait.

“Hey, what’s poppin’?” Alex asks like the moron he is.

Seb, Toby, Daemon and Ant spill into Theo’s flat behind him, all their eyes landing on Theo who’s now walked out of his kitchen.
