Keira’s lips twitched at Zander’s words. She knew it was rude to smile, but still, what the hell did this woman think she was doing?

“What?” she asked.

“Eli just cleaned my truck, Charlene, get off.”

This was Charlene? She should have guessed.

“I’m not dirty,” Charlene snapped before she seemed to gather herself. Then she held out her hand to Zander. “Help me down.”

“No.”

Keira couldn’t hold her grin back.

“What are you smiling at?” Charlene snarled. “This is nothing to do with you. Shouldn’t you be going back to work?” She nodded towards the market. She obviously thought that Keira worked there.

Oh, this was going to be fun.

Moving closer to Zander, she wrapped her arm around his and leaned into him. She sensed him glancing down at her, but she didn’t look away from the viper glaring at where she touched Zander.

“I don’t work there,” Keira replied. “And I won’t be going anywhere except home with Zander.”

“You work for Zander?”

Oh dear, either she was very dense, or she was in denial.

Keira was guessing the latter.

“Nope,” Keira told her. “I don’t work for him. Well, unless you consider what we do in bed to be work. But I don’t. I consider that pleasure. All pleasure.”

There was a bout of muffled laughter from behind the truck.

Charlene’s mouth dropped open. “Are you saying that you and Zander are . . . are . . .”

“Together, yep. Shall we go, sweetie? The ice cream is going to melt.”

“S-sweetie?” Charlene spluttered.

“He’s my big ole sweetie,” she said, laying it on thick. Webb wasn’t even bothering to hide his laughter now.

“You’re making a joke, aren’t you? Isn’t she, Zandy-pandy?” she whined.

Oh God. Seriously?

Now Webb was making gagging noises.

“Why are you calling me that?” Zander asked Charlene.

Why was she here? Hadn’t she left town and married someone else? Seemed that now she was back. And she had her eye on Zander.

Not happening, bitch.

“It was my nickname for you.”

“No, it wasn’t,” Webb said, walking around to the front of the truck. “Because if any of us ever heard you call him that, then we would have teased him for the rest of eternity. Zandy-pandy.” Webb chuckled as he grabbed their cart.

“Shut up, Webb. You dick,” Charlene snarled.

“That’s not very nice,” Keira said, stepping forward. “Why don’t you leave before you embarrass yourself any further?”
