He hardly remembered being introduced to Sable, the healer in the Blue pack. He remembered sleeping. He slept for what seemed like days, and then he would wake only to sleep again soon after.

Owen woke one afternoon, sleep still clinging to him.

"It's been days," Reika said, sounding angry. "Why hasn't he started feeling better? You said you could heal him, but he hadn't gotten any better."

"He will in due time," someone said, trying to calm her. "It takes time for a body to heal from the damage he went through. He should be able to shift any day now."

He felt Reika's hand holding him tightly. "You said that yesterday."

They fell silent, and Owen fell asleep once more, unable to keep himself awake any longer.

When he woke the next time, Reika wasn't there. It was late, and the moon was high. He looked around, seeing an older lady sitting in a rocking chair. She looked at him, holding a soft smile. "You're awake. I was wondering when you were going to join us again."

Owen sat up, realizing he was in his human form again. Everything hurt, and his head was pounding, but he was alive. "Where is Reika?" he asked, looking around.

"She's asleep." She gave him a tight smile with a sad look in her eyes. "Poor thing nearly passed out from exhaustion from sitting by you. She will be back in the morning. Don't worry. She will be fine, just needs some good sleep."

Owen looked around the space, taking in a fireplace and a small bed. The room smelled of lavender and mint, and a shag rug covered the floor. It was an odd setup. "Where are we?"

"You're in Medford at Grant Pass. You've been resting and healing for about five days now. Reika and some of our guys brought you here because you were injured badly."

Owen sighed, wondering how Reika had been handling it since then. She hadn't slept.

"You two will be fine," the gal said. "Young blood is always quick to heal. But you did have me worried at first."

"I never caught your name."

"You did," she said, giving him a laugh. "But you were pretty out of it when you did. It's Sable, dear."

"Thank you for everything. It means a lot to us."

She pushed herself up and out of her chair. She walked toward Owen and patted his shoulder. "I know, now get some more rest. We can talk more in the morning."

Owen wasn't sure he could sleep anymore, but he did. He drifted off, hoping that Reika and he could soon find happiness and stop running.

When Owen woke the following day, Reika was back, holding his hands tightly. He could tell she had taken it rough when he opened his eyes. Her eyes were red, and she looked sick. He pulled his hand up, cupping her chin. "You've looked better."

Her eyes widened as she looked down at him. "You're awake!"

He smiled at her as he pulled her down, hugging her. He missed it, her heat against his. He missed the closeness of everything.

"You look tired," he said, looking closer at her face. She had dark circles under her eyes, and tears formed.

"I am," she said, smiling at him. "But now that you're awake, I can sleep peacefully."

Sable cleared her throat, catching their attention. Reika leaned back, sitting herself next to Owen with a blush rolling over herself. "Sorry, Sable. I forgot you were there for a second."

"It's fine, dear." She smiled. "Young love. I remember those days."

Owen squeezed her hand. "What have I missed?"

"Nothing much," Reika said. "The Blue pack helped me get you here to Sable for healing. I've been staying in an open house for a few days since we got here. Everyone has been so sweet."

Reika gives Sable another smile. "Thank you so much for the help. It's been a blessing in our time of need."

Sable held her smile. "Of course, dear. Everyone needs help every once in a while. But I am interested to know the full story now that he is awake."

Reika went on and explained how she and Owen met and fell in love. They didn't even know they were enemies until it was too late. She explained Owen’s pack wanted her dead, so they ran.
