She flashed him a smile and stepped out from the bench. “All right, well …”

“You want to see something crazy?” Owen blurted out.

She blinked at him. “Sure?”

“You know,” he swallowed, putting a hand on his hip, “since I’m a stunt double. I can do a lot of crazy things.”

Reika raised a brow at him. “Oh?”

“Yeah … I can take you to a spot to show you.”

She glanced around the festival, clutching her wine glass with one hand under the stem and the other wrapped around the curve of it. “What’s that entail exactly?”

He reached out a hand toward her, his skin tingling at the thought of touching hers. “Come find out.”

She gave him another wary look, glancing down at his hand before darting back up to focus on his eyes.

He wiggled his fingers at her suggestively. “C’mon …”

“Is it dangerous?”

“For you? Not at all.”

Slowly, she pulled her hand away from her wine glass and slipped it into his. He felt his skin practically zip with lightning, feeling her warmth course through his veins. He tried his best not to immediately clasp his fingers around her hand … slowly tugging her around the bench.

“This way.”

She nodded, letting him guide her through the festival.

He felt his head buzz.

He had no idea why he was doing this, or to what end it was leading them, but he couldn’t help but feel a thrill rolling throughout his body as he squeezed her hand in his. There was something about this woman that drew him to her in a magnetic way. Letting her drift off into the night without another word from her or a promise of seeing her again felt like complete agony. Owen led Reika out of the park and down through the streets to overlook the bay.

REIKA

She could feel her heart pounding in her chest as she trekked toward the bridge, her hand firmly clutched in Owen’s as her other hand was fisted around her wine glass.

If she’d been a human, she would’ve laughed in his face if he thought she’d go somewhere alone with him. But she wasn’t human. She was a ferocious wolf who could tear any human into pieces. Afraid of him, she wasn’t one bit. But she had no idea just what the hell he was planning on, but the closer they got to the bridge, the more her anxiety kicked in.

“Um, Owen?”

“Yes?” he looked over his shoulder at her, stopping at the base of the hill that led up to the bridge.

“What … are you doing?”

He grinned.

“Don’t you want to see my stunt?”

“The … one you’re supposed to do tomorrow?”

“Yeah, jumping off the bridge.”

She felt her eyes widen. He couldn’t actually be serious … right?

He let go of her hand. “You have a phone?”
