“It’s true.”

“But you can’t leave!” he cries, growing upset. “We have plans!”

I reach out and clasp onto his hand, threading my fingers through his, feeling the weight of the ages settle on my soul.

“I’m surprised we stayed this long, to be honest.”

Landon blinks and blinks, processing what I’ve just said. He knows that I’ve been waiting for this to happen. I’ve whispered it to him in the middle of the night when everyone else was asleep.

“We’ll talk to my parents. You can move in with us,” Landon says, sounding determined. “You’re like a brother to us.”

I rub at my chest because hope is blooming. But I can’t get attached to the idea, just like I shouldn’t have gotten attached to him.

Everything I love is only ever ripped away.

“Sure,” I say, clearing my throat because I don’t want to tear this away from him.

He can hold onto hope, even though I can’t.

Not anymore.

LANDON

I can’t stop staringat Finn and his mouth. His tongue was up my ass and I liked it. My eyes drop to his hands. Those fingers were up my ass too. And I really fucking liked it.

But my best friend doesn’t seem to be as enamored with me because that phone he ignored earlier is now in his hands and he’s texting frantically.

I glower at him.

“Who’s he texting?” Logan asks me.

I meet my brother’s stare and shrug. “I think he’s texting some guy he likes.”

Finn’s eyes snap up to meet mine. “That’s not what’s happening.”

“Oh, so now he wants to be a part of this conversation,” I try and tease, but it comes out biting.

Logan’s eyes fly between us and he taps his hand on the counter.

And then realization dawns on me.

“Logan…did you know that Finn…did youknow?” I ask, not sure how to ask that question.

“Huh?” he asks, his brows drawn in confusion. “Know what? Know that Finn likes the occasional dude? Yeah, I guess…saw him watching some gay porn once…”

Finn mutters something under his breath and runs a hand down his face, pushing himself up from the sofa. “God, Logan. Not now.”

Theo’s cat takes that opportunity to hop down from her kitty chateau and meows loudly by Logan’s feet, brushing up against his ankles.

“Shit, I need to feed Curie or she’ll bite me,” Logan says. “Hold that thought.”

He moves away from us and I turn to face my best friend…myFinn.

“Great, so do Mom and Dad know, too? Am I the only one out of the loop here?” I ask, my arms folded across my chest. I’m feeling that bloom of hurt inch its way inside of me again.

I hate it, feeling like this. Like I’m the last man standing, the only one who hasn’t figured it out.
