Lottie looked between Nova and Cain; eyebrows raised.

“Sure, why not?” Cain shrugged. It occurred to him then that not one of them had thought beyond the next thirty days.

Damnation Creek trail was beautiful, as usual. The difference for Lottie was that it was the first time she’d seen it covered in a thin blanket of snow. She knew about the magic surrounding the resort, keeping the weather perfect and the temperature just right for sunbathing and swimming but once you stepped outside of the grounds the real world set in. Luckily, for them there were some benefits to being undead. Cold and heat didn’t affect them, they dressed accordingly only to keep the living at ease.

“Nova, look.” Lottie whispered, pointing above them, showing her the giant redwoods ahead of them.

“Wow,” Nova breathed. Lottie smiled as Nova took it all in. She grabbed the other woman’s hand pulling her slightly off the trail to touch one of the redwoods. Nova ran her hand along the bark then spread her arms out trying to hug the tree. Both women laughed.

“This is incredible. I’ve never seen anything like it before.”

Lottie gazed at Nova as tiny snowflakes caught in her hair. She’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever laid eyes on.Lottie suddenly shook her head.Whoa! There are a lot of beautiful women. Stop your shit.

“Should we keep going or wait on Cain?” Lottie asked, trying to shake off the butterflies threatening her stomach.

“We can go a little further. There’s no telling how long he’ll be on his phone.”

Lottie rolled her eyes. “I thought we said, ‘no phones?”

“We did but Beau always comes before everyone else.”

Lottie nodded, knowingly then asked, “Beau is your father, right?”

Nova huffed. “Of course, you wouldn’t know who he is.”

“Oh, ouch.”

“No,” Nova spun around, reaching for Lottie’s hand. “That’s not what I meant at all. You’re well-traveled, worldly, brilliant, and you’re not sober.” Lottie started to speak but Nova stopped her. “I’m not asking you to be sober. I, um, I think I actually want you to take me out. Maybe to that club we went to the first time we went out?”

Lottie’s mouth dropped open and she took a step back, shock plain on her face.

“No?” Nova smiled, only one side of her mouth turning up.

“Yes. Yes, definitely. I can take you somewhere like it. That was a pop-up club. They generally only last a weekend.”

Nova felt her stomach clench. Although she’d given a lot of thought to the idea of feeding with Lottie, she hadn’t talked to anyone about it yet. She had hoped to run into Selena.

“Does Cain know about this?” Lottie asked next.

Nova frowned. “No. Is that a problem for you?”

“It feels devious and slightly against the rules. The rules we all just agreed on a few hours ago.”

“Oh. I, uh, I’m sorry.”

Lottie started laughing, moving in closer until Nova was backed up against the redwood she’d tried to hug. She trailed kisses down Nova’s pale slender neck, holding her hands down against her jeans.

“I’m assuming, since you’ve never tasted blood,” Lottie kissed lower down stopping at her soft cleavage. “That you’ve never been bitten either. Am I right?” She continued brushing her lips against Nova’s neck. She felt her swallow before answering.

“No. I haven’t.”

“Do you think you’d want to try it…sometime?” Pressing her lips harder against Nova’s throat, she smiled letting her teeth barely graze against her flesh.

Nova tilted her head back slightly, giving Lottie access. “Whenever and wherever you want. I’m yours,” she breathed.

Lottie sunk her teeth into Nova’s neck as she unzipped her jeans, slipping her hand down and filling her with her fingers. Nova thrust with her until Lottie dropped to her knees, pulling Nova’s jeans down with her. Quickly finding her sweet spot with her tongue, Lottie continued to lick the luscious cream between Nova’s lips.
