I shook my head. “No, I just wish that you would have told me. I might have done things differently if I’d known.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you,” she said. “But I think we figured it out.”
I rolled her until she was under me.
“For someone without a lot of experience, you definitely learned pretty fast,” I said, pushing my hips against hers.
She moaned. “I had a good teacher.”
“Ohhh, I like the idea of being your sex teacher. That’s hot.”
Lark let out a sound that was halfway between a gasp and a giggle.
“What’s my grade?” she said.
“Oh, I don’t know, I’m going to have to give you another test,” I said at the same time as I stroked her core with my hand.
“I’ll pass,” she said, her eyes fluttering closed.
“We’ll see about that,” I said, kissing my way down her body.
Chapter Fifteen
“Good morning, love,”I said when Lark’s eyes opened the next day when her alarm went off.
“I like it when you call me that,” she said softly. “I’m only a little bit hung over.”
“Same,” I said. There was a ghost of a headache knocking on my skull, so I got up and grabbed some aspirin and water for both of us.
“Thanks, babe,” she said.
“Babe?” I asked.
“Yeah, I’m trying it out. You like?”
I usually reserved that word for my friends, but I couldn’t lie, I loved hearing it from Lark’s lips. To be fair, she could have called me “Bitchslut” and I would have viewed it as a term of endearment.
“I like it when you call me Syd,” I said, gathering her in my arms and wrapping my legs around her too. I did not want to get up and go to work today.
“I’ll alternate,” she said, burrowing into my neck.
“Hey,” I said, and her head lifted.
“What?” she said.
“How about you call out of work today? Play hooky with me.” Everly was still new, but she was more than up to the task of managing the shop today, along with Mom.
“I did miss time when I was sick, how about a half day? I can pretend I have some sort of appointment,” she said.
“I’ll take what I can get,” I said as I sent a message to my mom and Everly that I would be in that afternoon and to let me know if there was some kind of emergency. Mom was surprised, since I almost never took any time off. Everly was sweet, telling me that if I needed the whole day, that she could handle things.
Lark had also been on her phone letting Liam know that she’d be in later. After a few back and forth messages, she tossed her phone on her nightstand.
“Free?” I asked.
“Free for you,” she said.
Fuck, I loved her.
