Idon’tknowhowlong I’ve been waiting in the suite Luke sent me to, but it has to have been an hour or more. There’s a knock on the door, and I run to open it. My face falls when it’s Matteo and a woman who looks oddly familiar.
“Don’t act so happy to see me,” he teases. Then he pulls me into a hug, catching me off guard.
“Sorry. Where’s Luke?”
Matteo squeezes me again and steps away. “He’s OK. You can be with him. This is Dr. Singh. She’s going to check you out and make sure you’re alright. Luke will come to you when she’s done.”
I try to hide my disappointment. If he’s here, why didn’t he rush to be with me? Why insist that a doctor examine me first?
The doctor holds out her hand, and I take it automatically.
“Matteo, can you wait outside?” she asks.
“Sure thing, doctor. Just shout if you need anything.”
When we’re alone, she winks at me and sets her bag down on the dresser. “I’m sure I look a lot different in a corset.”
“Right. I was trying to place you. You’re a member here.” And not just any member, she’s a Dom. Luke pointed her out to me—or pointed her partner out to me as being the mercenary who likes to submit when he’s here. It’s odd seeing the more human side of her. I wonder if she knows who her submissive is and what he does.
She smiles and nods to the bench at the foot of the bed. “Want to sit and chat for a minute?”
When I’m seated, she pulls the chair out from under the desk and flips it around to sit for herself.
“Tell me what happened after you got on the plane.”
I close my eyes and try to remember. “Honestly, that part is a little fuzzy. I remember curling up in the bedroom of the jet, and then everything was dark until I woke up in a hotel room. That reminds me I don’t even know how long ago I left.”
“Two days ago. So, it sounds like you were out for a long time. According to the boys, your plane only made it to New Mexico before it turned around and came back to Vegas.”
I tell her about my egg allergy, and that my captors were surprised I was out for so long.
“That may help us narrow down what drug they gave you. If it’s either of the ones I’m thinking of, you’ll be fine. How did you feel when you woke up?”
“Groggy. My limbs felt like they were made of lead. I had to pee really bad.”
“Any pain anywhere?”
I rub my arms and nod. “My muscles were really sore, and I had a pretty nasty headache.”
She nods thoughtfully. “No vaginal or anal soreness?”
My stomach turns as I realize why Luke sent the doctor in before he would come to me.
“No, doctor, nothing like that. And nobody touched me after I woke up either.”
She smiles, but my gaze remains icy.
“Let’s do a quick check of all your extremities. If you have any concerns that something may have happened while you were knocked out, I can also perform a pelvic exam.”
I shake my head. “Absolutely not. I’m fine.”
“After we check you out, I’ll listen to your heart and give you an IV because you do appear a little dehydrated.”
The fluids I won’t say no to, so I nod and let her do a short exam and listen to my chest.
While she’s hooking me up to the fluids, I look her in the eyes. “Please keep the details of this conversation between us.”
She furrows her brow. “Of course, Zara. I would never break doctor/patient confidentiality.”
