“I would never try and take them away from you,” he murmured as he turned to shut off the water. “Although we do need to talk about how the bloodsucker suddenly became something to you.”

There was a line of tension in the muscles of his back, and I knew he was purposely facing away from me. "I didn’t think…I’d ever want to share you. But I've come to peace with it now. Being able to feel you inside of me, I understand better. It isn't that I'm not enough for you. It’s that somehow your heart has fallen completely in love with multiple people, but it doesn't change the strength of your love for me.”

A hiccuped sob burst from my lips, but I held my tears in. I reached out and trailed my fingers along his back, his skin trembling under my touch.

"No, it doesn't," I whispered.

After a long moment, he turned to face me, shooting me a reassuring smile as he grabbed my hand and led me out of the shower. It was freezing. Because obviously while the water had been kept on, such things as the heater had not, and I had no doubt that I would be covered in dirt again if I tried to use the towel hanging on the rack.

I opened up one of the cabinets and spotted some towels in there, but I could see the dust all over those as well.

Air dry it was.

Once we got our clothes back on, Daxon took my hand and we walked from the room. My stomach chose that moment to growl…loudly.

"My first official task of being your mate will be to make sure you get some food in you," he teased.

I smiled at him, thinking it was hilarious…and somewhat embarrassing how even that made me swoon.

“I think your first task was getting inside of me as many times as conceivably possible,” I retorted.

He simply winked, obviously proud that my core felt broken.

It was a wonder how lost to our surroundings I'd been during the frenzy, because we’d wandered down at least three hallways before we were back in the enormous entry of the castle where Daxon had first marked me.

A shot of worry suddenly dashed through Daxon’s bond.

"What is it?" I asked, rubbing my chest.

"I—I don't know what came over me…what happened. You have to know I would never have purposely done something like that against your will."

His face was heartbroken as he stood there. I reached out to him and softly held my mate's cheek.

"I do think that you’re possessive enough to mark me without my consent," I teased. "But in this case, you just followed your instincts, whatever they were triggered by. And…I'm just glad that whatever had been holding me back before from accepting your bite, didn't this time."

He stared at me in awe, like he couldn't believe his good luck.

Daxon winced. "I am a possessive bastard, aren't I?"

"Baby, I’m also beginning to understand you’re a little bit of a psychopath judging by the emotions I can…or lack of emotions I feel in your bond about anything but me. But I can work with that," I said with a wink. He just grinned at me, his eyes dancing with mischief…and a little bit of madness.

Just how I liked him.

"I knew I’d eventually get my bite to stick," he joked as he led me towards the giant doors that led to the outside.

Daxon heaved the heavy doors open, and I took a breath as we walked out into the gloomy day.

"How long have we…?" My voice trailed off.

"How long have we been fucking?" he tossed at me lightly. I rolled my eyes, knowing what we’d been doing had been far more than that.

Daxon pulled out his phone, his eyes widening. "Holy fuck," he spat out.

"What is it?" I asked worriedly, thinking he'd gotten a concerning message on his phone.

He stared at me. “I've been inside of you for three days," he finally said, and the bastard looked so proud of that.

"Three days," I repeated slowly. Well, that explained why I was walking so funny.
