It’s darker stone and looks like it was designed by someone who likes castles a little too much.

Everett parks up outside the front door.

He looks at me, his eyes dark.

This is it. We’re here to get our Omega back.

I take his hand and we silently watch the clock on the dashboard tick down.

We’re not leaving here without Oscar.

The Alpha won’t live to regret taking him.

All we need to do now is wait for our moment.

Chapter One-Hundred

Everett

FiveminutesuntilIcan challenge the Alpha, I kiss Cheryl’s hand and let it go. We step out of the car at the same time, closing the doors and walking up the steps to the front door of the big, ugly house this Alpha calls home. He’s in there, and so is Oscar.

Cheryl and Rachel hang back a little, letting me lead them.

I knock the door, hammering my hand off the wood. The sound of his footsteps, and scent of his wolf are followed by the sound of a key being turned. He pauses, before he opens the door.

I fight the urge to lunge at him and rip his head from his shoulders.

“You’re early,” Liam Mercer tells me, giving me a sly smirk. “I could call the Council of Witches, so they know you didn’t stick to their asinine rules.”

“I’m here to talk,” I spit out. “If you decide to see that as a challenge, that isn’t on me.”

He laughs. “Here to talk. You have a sense of humor, then.”

I glance at Cheryl, and she shakes her head.

She’s counting down, ready to let me know when it’s time to issue the challenge and take this asshole out of the game for good. It’s not time yet.

“I’m not in the mood for conversation tonight. You should come back tomorrow,” Liam says.

He starts to close the door. I start to step forward.

Cheryl puts her hand on my arm, and I pull back.

The door closes. He locks it. Fuck!

“You can break it down in a couple of minutes,” she tells me. “Don’t take his bait.”

I focus on my breathing to help keep my rage from exploding.

If we lose Oscar forever because my control slips, I’ll never get over it.

“Are you picking up Oscar’s scent trail?” Cheryl asks Rachel.

I look at the blonde witch and she nods. “It’s kind of faint out here, but I’ve got it. I’ll be able to track him once we’re inside.”

“Keep him safe, whatever happens,” I tell Rachel, giving the order as if I’m her Alpha.

“That’s what I’m here for,” she reassures me.
