“No, you fucked my life,” she spits out. “I helped your Omega, and I tried to help your sorry ass when you were dying. The least you can do is apologise for leading me on and tossing me away like trash.”

I stare at her. “Bianca, you can’t be fucking serious. You tried to kill my pack, and my mate.”

“You made me angry, Everett! How is that any different than what you do? Some Alpha makes you angry and you have to go kill him. What’s the difference? Is it okay for you because you’re an Alpha, or because you’re a guy?” She raises an eyebrow at me.

Fuck. She’s kind of got a point. As bitter a pill that is to swallow.

It doesn’t make it right, but she’s not wrong, either.

She was following her instincts, like I follow mine.

She didn’t have an Alpha to guide her, because she thought I was meant to be her Alpha.

“I’m sorry,” I tell her, making her jaw drop. “I treated you like shit. I shouldn’t have. You deserved better. Now, will you please fuck off?”

She vanishes, her face still a mask of shock as she fades away.

“Well, hopefully that’s the end of that,” I murmur as I head up the stairs to get ready for bed.

I’ve had enough of being awake for one day.

Chapter One-Hundred-Six

Oscar

Cherylbreaksthegoodnews that Mercer is dead, and she tells Amanda’s mates they can go home. They don’t waste any time getting out of here. I don’t blame them. I didn’t choose to spend a whole day away from my mate and I’m reluctant to leave her side now that we’re home.

Vi and Ivy give me hugs before they announce they’re headed to bed.

Noah tells me he’s glad I’m back before he heads into the kitchen.

Then, I’m alone with Cheryl in the lounge.

“You know, I’ve slept on that couch a whole bunch of times,” I tell her. “I don’t know why it always had to be that one, but once I slept on it once, I just kind of claimed it as mine. It’s funny how that seemed important at the time.” I see my flask on the table, and I pick it up. “This was important to me too. Everett gave me it, and it made me less anxious. I think deep down I was always afraid our pack was temporary. It didn’t feel real, or solid, until you came along.”

“It was solid,” Cheryl tells me. “You three were always going to be pack brothers, and I was fated for all three of you. We were meant to be together, and that’s a forever deal. You’re never going to get rid of us, Oscar. Never.”

“I know,” I tell her, putting the flask back down. “This is my home, and you’re my family.”

“We are,” she says. “Oscar, I have someone who wants to talk to you.”

I raise my eyebrows. “Is it an invisible someone? Because I don’t see anyone but you and me in this room.”

She hands me a charm, invoking it as she passes it to me.

“This will let you speak to her.”

Her? I look up and my heart stops.

The woman standing beside my mate is my mother.

I recognise her smile, her eyes. God of Wolves. I remember her.

“Mom,” I find myself saying. “How is this…”

Cheryl takes my hand, and I feel a lump swelling in my throat.

My mother’s dead. She’s a spirit. She’s been helping my mate and my pack.
