“I think we’ve talked enough for the day.”

Keith chuckled. “There’s one more thing I have to say.”

Harmony turned so that she was facing him. “Okay, what is it?”

Keith’s fingers slid through her hair. She’d been too drained to wrap it or even do her skincare routine that night. All she did was shower and climb right into bed.

“I love you.” Harmony’s eye twitched at the sound of his declaration. Her heart warmed and squeezed… and not in a good way. It squeezed as if it was being trapped by his words, to the point of explosion. “What I said earlier…”

“You don’t have to try and fix it up. You told the truth, finally, and I respect you for that.”

“I did tell the truth, but I’m worried about the way you took it.”

“That’s not your concern.”

Keith sighed. “It is my concern. I don’t want you to think I don’t want to be with you, bae.”

“I know you do.” She smiled softly in the darkness. “I just… don’t know if that’s enough. Baby, I don’t want us to get into a marriage that ends in divorce because we aren’t happy with each other.”

“I am happy with you. So the true question is, are you happy with me?”

“I was,” she admitted with a huff. “But since we moved in together, I feel like I have less of you. I told you that I’ve felt lonely and as if I have to hide that, but compared to what you’re going through, I don’t feel right expressing that.”

“I don’t want you to feel like you can’t be honest with me about how you’re feeling, Harmony, no matter what I’m going through.”

“Sometimes, most times, there’s no space in your mind for me.” Her tears slid down her nose and cheek. “And I get it, Keith, I promise I do. I’m just… tired of feeling like I’m in this alone.”

“I asked if you wanted me to leave…”

“I don’t,” she stressed. “I want things to get better between us.” When he released a heavy sigh, she added, “But I know you don’t have the capacity to be present. To care. To give. I know you can only focus on yourself right now. So maybe…”

The words wouldn’t leave her mouth. She couldn’t ask him to leave.

“Say it,” he commanded. “Put yourself first. Because if you wait for me to leave you… I can’t. I thought I could, bae, but I can’t. Tell me to leave, Harmony. Tell me to leave so you can get what you deserve.”

“No,” she whispered, pulling him closer.

Their lips locked, and Keith positioned himself so that his body hovered over hers.

“Harmony,” he called, voice trembling.

“Please.”

“I’m too selfish for you.”

“I don’t care. Not right now.”

Cursing against her lips, Keith slipped his hand between her thighs. As soon as his fingers grazed her pussy, her back arched. She was already soaking wet. Keith lowered his lips to hers, kissing her deeply as he removed himself from his boxers. Slowly, he stretched her with his thick girth. Harmony wrapped her arms around his neck, surrendering to how good it felt to be one with him again. A quiet moan escaped her as he buried his face in her neck and whispered her name.

Keith grunted, lifting himself as he cursed. “It’s not going to stay hard, Harmony.”

“It’s o—”

“Fuck!” he roared, pulling himself out of her and sitting on the edge of the bed.

“Keith,” she called softly, trying to touch his back, but he stood and walked to the bathroom, slamming the door behind him.
