“Bacon works,” Saint said, heading toward the coffee pot.

She told him the mugs were in the cabinet directly above it. While he fixed their coffee, she fixed their plates. They met at the island in the center of the kitchen, which also gave them a view of the living room and TV because of the open design. He’d noticed she preferred to have music or the TV on always, sometimes both, and he wondered if that was for a specific reason. His grandmother used to do the same thing when she was at the house alone because it made it seem like she wasn’t.

Taking his hand into hers, Harmony lowered her head as she asked, “Will you say grace?”

After agreeing, Saint said grace, then they dug in. They didn’t talk much as Saint enjoyed the homecooked breakfast. He didn’t usually eat spinach for breakfast unless it was in an omelet, but he had to admit it was pretty good.

“What are your plans for the day?” he asked as she carried their empty plates over to the sink.

“Angel said she wants to go to brunch, but after last night, I don’t expect her to be up any time soon. I might just rest and chill. What about you?”

“I’m going to see my grandparents before taking Cartier, my sister, shopping. She said she has some good news to tell me, so I’m anxious to know what that is.”

“Ooh, that’s exciting. I wonder what it could be.”

“I got a few ideas, but I’m going to wait until she lets me know.”

“So then I guess I’ll see you Monday?” Harmony confirmed.

“You will…” Saint stood and walked over to her at the sink. “But you’ll see me tomorrow too. And you’ll hear from me later today.”

Flushed, Harmony leaned forward and laid a hand over her heart. “So you were serious about this being a weekend thing?”

“Damn right. Even if I wasn’t, after getting that pussy last night, I’d change plans if necessary to get it again before Monday.”

Lips parted, Harmony touched her mouth as she slowly took in his frame. “I fear we’ve started something I don’t want to have a quick expiration date. In my last relationship, sex was far and few in between, but I wanted it daily. You’ve woken up a part of me that’s been asleep for quite some time.”

“With me…” Saint paused as he lifted her in the air and wrapped her legs around his waist. “There’s no need to let your sexuality rest. I want every drop of cum that leaks from that pussy.”

Harmony bit down on her bottom lip, eyes never leaving his as he placed her on top of the island. He told himself he wouldn’t have sex with her before he left, but that mental agreement with himself went out the window.

As much as he wanted to dive right in, Saint went to her bedroom to grab a condom from his wallet. When he returned, he made quick work of pulling himself out of his boxers, sheathing himself, and sliding her to the edge of the island. Harmony wasted no time wrapping her legs around him in preparation for the ride. Saint had no idea where things between them were going to go, but he was grateful she was now open to the idea of allowing him to have his way with her.

After going homeand freshening up, Saint headed to his grandparents’ place. Because of how often he returned to Memphis, Saint kept the home he’d purchased there when he signed his first big distribution deal. Over the years, he changed out the décor, but it was fully stocked and furnished with everything he needed. Admittedly, Saint hadn’t wanted to spend a lot of time at home. If he did, he’d be forced to entertain his thoughts over what to do next with his life.

Even if he never rapped another song or performed another concert, Saint was set for life. And with his brand deals, sponsorships, and line of vodka and whisky, if he ever had children, they’d be set for life too. So far, the only business move Saint had made while being back at home was setting up a meeting with several club, lounge, bar, and restaurant owners in Memphis for the end of the month to discuss getting his spirits featured in their establishments. Other than that, he’d been on autopilot, finding it difficult to do anything but be consumed by the fact that his love affair with music was no more.

Stepping out of his Aston Martin, Saint eyed the quaint three-bedroom home he’d grown up in. All the money in the world wouldn’t convince his grandparents to move into something bigger, and Saint respected that. They wouldn’t even allow him to send them out on trips or buy them extravagant gifts. His grandfather did, however, let Saint buy him a new lawn mower and grill every few years and pay off their mortgage, while his grandmother let him buy her a new set of pearls for Christmas every year.

Instead of letting himself in with his key, Saint knocked and waited to be let in. At the sight of him, his grandmother clapped twice as she released a hearty chuckle. Back in the day, she was harder and less affectionate. She never told any of her grandchildren that she loved them, not even Saint. Now, she gave him hugs every time she saw him, so that was growth. While his grandparents may not have been the most affectionate, they looked out for him and made sure he was straight. They took care of him to the best of their abilities and made sure he lacked nothing. For that, he would be forever grateful.

“I was wondering when you were going to come and see me, boy. I missed you.”

“I missed you too. I’m back home for good.”

Saint closed the door behind them and followed her over to the vintage, low sitting couch on the back wall of the living room. They’d just recently switched their TV to something more modern, and that was Cartier’s doing. As always, Mae had the TV low with gospel music playing throughout the house.

“What you cooking today?” Saint asked, getting comfortable on the tan, floral couch.

“Nothing. There’s greens, pigs feet, macaroni and cheese, and yams in there from yesterday. You want me to fix you a plate?”

“Not yet, but I’ll get something before I leave.”

Mae nodded as she reached forward and grabbed her coffee off the table. She had three cups of decaf every day, one after every meal.

“You ready to tell me what in the world you’ve gotten yourself into?” she asked calmly.
