I wanted to laugh. Was he offering advice? “Don’t worry. I know exactly where it’s coming from.”

“Every jungle has a snake.”

His last words were interesting but not a deterrent. I pulled the trigger not once but twice, backing away and watching as his body slid to the floor.

As I grabbed my phone dialing Dillon, I started to ransack the place.

“Dillon. Is Sarah safe?”

“I’m certain she is, but she’s still out with your sisters, sir. Why?”

I jerked up, snarling as my blood ran cold. “What the hell are you talking about?”

“Theodora said your father had them come to take her shopping.”

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck! “She wasn’t supposed to leave.” I’d neglected to mention I’d gone against my father’s orders.

“Shit. I didn’t know, sir,” Dillon huffed.

“Who was with them?”

“A couple of your father’s men I don’t know. Did something else happen?”

“Find them. Get them back there. Now!”

“Yes, sir.”

“Get the house surrounded with soldiers, my father’s house as well. Do it quickly and I don’t give a shit what my father says, my orders stand. Do you get it?”

“Absolutely, sir.”

Why the hell had Sarah disobeyed me? For spite? To push my boundaries even more?

“Last thing. I need a cleanup crew as soon as possible at a motel in shit town.” I gave him the address of the motel, unconcerned if anyone had heard any noise. There was a war on the way, one that could destroy our way of life. No. I couldn’t… I would not allow that to happen, no matter what needed to be done.

Hissing, I slid the gun into my pocket, tearing the place apart. When I finally found the drive taped under one of the drawers, I wasted no time. She had to be alive. If anything happened to her, I’d burn down the entire city.

But only after tearing the Morettis apart limb from limb.

No one hurt the people I cared about.

No one would ever touch the woman I loved.

If they dared try, they would face the wrath of a true monster.

CHAPTER15

Gabriel

Rage.

It tore through me like a wildfire. I paced the floor of my office, cursing under my breath.

“They’re on their way back, Mr. Giordano,” Dillon told me. He sensed the caged lion in me was about to break out, ripping everything and everyone to shreds who dared cross his path.

“That’s what I heard thirty minutes ago, and don’t you dare tell me it’s because of New York traffic.” Although that was a part of it.

The women had been gone for at least two hours before I’d learned about it. Fucking hours. Anyone could have fired off a weapon from a vehicle or a close building. Even though Dillon had ordered their return, they were taking their sweet time getting here. My patience was completely gone. As I swept my arm across the desk, I took no comfort in the sound of breaking glass or the hard thudding my laptop made when it smashed against the hardwood floor.
