“It will, Jace. It will. Calm the fuck down and have a little faith.”
I hung up and walked out the door, frowning as I passed by the main stage, watching Kitten as she danced.
And of course, Father was right fucking there, his eyes glued to her. I angrily ground my teeth when I saw the fucker reach down and adjust his dick through his slacks.
“Jace,” Finn’s voice boomed out ahead of me. I turned my head to find him waving me down. “It’s time. You ready?”
“Yeah,” I nodded. “Let’s fucking do this shit.”
I followed him out the side exit and paused beside his SUV long enough to fish out my phone and let Phantom know it was GO time.
“You’re driving,” Finn said as he rounded his car, tossing me the keys. “I’m riding shotgun in the truck.”
“Why? Father said we had to—”
“Just trust me, Jace. I know what I’m doing.”
He said nothing further and dashed away toward the semi, climbing into the passenger side. Within seconds I was behind the wheel of Finn’s SUV and was pulling out right behind them.

Because I honestly had no idea what the fuck I’d do if it didn’t.
About five to ten minutes had passed and there was nothing. No signs of another car following behind me…just…nothing. We weren’t on the usual path to the airport, hadn’t been for miles now. For some reason, the semi had taken a random turn on a backroad. Woods surrounded us on both sides.
More and more I was starting to feel discouraged, scared even.
Something was wrong. I could feel it.
I had to pay attention to the road, but I had no idea where the fuck we were. So, I pulled out my phone and called Finn.
“Where are we going?”
“Get ready, Jace. Shit’s about to get really fucking interesting.”
He hung up, and I cursed, shaking my head.
Goddamnit!
What the fuck is he—
Out of no-fucking-where another blacked-out SUV dove out onto the road from the woods behind me, losing the front bumper from the impact. Whoever was behind the wheel stomped the gas and was riding my ass in seconds.
“What the…”
My words faltered when a bright beam of headlights from a large truck emerged behind them. Ignoring it for a moment, I focused more on the other car behind me in the rearview mirror. My eyes almost popped out of my head as I watched someone climb out of the passenger side window then hop up onto the roof, crouching low.
The car swerved into the next lane, approaching fast. As I squinted out the window, my heart pounding, I blinked in shock as a woman wearing a skull mask crouched lower onto the hood like she was readying herself to jump.
I looked ahead to the semi then after hearing a loud pop, gasping out in fear when suddenly the fucking thing swerved hard into the left lane. It almost crashed into the woods, but swiftly it leveled itself back out and was back in the right lane in a matter of seconds.
The other SUV took off then, flying like a bat out of hell past me up to the driver side of the semi. My mouth fell open when the woman jumped and attached herself to the door handle.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT!
She opened the door and as it swung open, I saw blood splattered all over the window. She reached inside, then tossed the driver out of the truck, sending his body flying across the road. She hopped in and after a moment of two of staring wide-eyed, completely mind-fucked over what I’d just witnessed, the semi slowed down. The other car did the same and pulled over onto the left side of the road.
