“Son of a bitch,” I seethed through gritted teeth. That explained why Father was in such a pissy mood the other night. I wonder why the hell he didn’t tell us. “What are we supposed to do now?”

“I don’t know,” Griffin replied, shaking his head. “I’m waiting for Unc to get back to me on that. Last I heard, the Outlaws are overtaking the streets and plan to move towards our vicinity. Crane has control over the Vipers and Alesi is running the Raptors. They’re combining all forces to unite as one single unit. Word is going around that they’re gunning after our territory. All of it.”

Fuck. This was not good news. If what Griffin is saying was true and Damien, Crane, Alesi, and Sinclair really did join forces, that left us Ravagers as sheep vulnerable for slaughter. That meant the academy was at risk too. Father worked hard to make this place a safe haven for us kids born in the life. If they invade our turf, everyone sanctioned here, including us Ravagers would be in grave danger of disposal.

“But what aboutourcrews on the streets?” inserted Phantom. “Does Sharkey know what’s going on?”

“He’s aware. He knows what to look out for, same as the rest of the crew. And before you ask, they’ve already been ordered to push all the product we have tucked away in our warehouses. Depending on how much they move, it’s possible there may be a little leftover I can deliver to you for next weeks shipment. Once the last of the drugs are gone, that’s it. All we’ll have left is the weapons. The profit from that alone won't be enough to fund the school or pay our men. Unc is trying to find a new connect but it’s not looking good. He’s talking about branching outside of our comfort zone.”

“How far?” I asked.

“Clover Bay. It’s a few hours south from here.”

“Clover Bay?” Phantom repeated, his brows furrowed.

“You know the place?” asked Griffin.

“Yeah. A buddy of mine, Kaden, lives there. I wonder if…”

“It doesn’t matter,” spat Isaac. “What matters is that we fix this problem, and fast. If we have to worry about the Reyez clan and all these other traitors invading our turf, we gotta be ready.”

“How much time do we have?” I asked Griffin, who gave us an honest shrug and a small head shake.

“I don’t know yet. Once I hear more, I’ll update you. Just watch your backs. And oh—you didn’t hear any of this from me. I’m sure the old man will fill you in soon but go easy on him when he does. He’s got a lot stacked on his plate right now.”

After discussing it a little more I passed the duffels off to Phantom and bid Griffin farewell. Wordlessly the three of us watched as he climbed back in the boat and slowly whizzed across the lake, merging through the darkness.

Chapter 15

Isaac

“ThatASSHOLE!” I screeched when we made it back to the dorm with the drugs, unable to hold my indignation in any longer.

I slammed the door behind me and hastily tugged at my hair while Rhett and Phantom began depositing everything out the bags and onto the bed.

“Why the fuck didn’t he tell us!?”

I was far beyond fucking livid at the news. Damien stealing all our father’s partners and leaving all of us as open targets for slaughter didnotsettle well with me. It was taking every inch of my willpower not to get in the car, make a trip downtown, and gun all those sons of bitches down, Damien especially. He should’ve fucking told us. How in the fuck could our father just leave us in the dark like that?

“Calm the fuck down, Isaac,” Rhett demanded as he whipped out his pocketknife and jabbed it deep into the huge brick of coke in front of him.

“I willnotcalm the fuck down. I’m fucking fuming right now.”

“Oh yeah?” Phantom roared, cocking his big, angry head at me, nostrils flaring. “Get in fucking line. We’re all pissed. Now get your ass over here and help us bag this shit up. We got a shit ton of people waiting for us at the party.”

“We gotta do something about this.” I approached Phantom’s dresser and yanked the top drawer open, fetching the little baggies for the coke, the scale, and the larger bags for the weed and pills. After having everything we needed, I grabbed Phantom’s computer chair and sank down in front of the bed, tossing the baggies at them. “Well? Any suggestions?”

“I don’t know,” Rhett chided as he blew out an enraged breath, his jaw thrumming. “It’s not like we can round up the whole crew and storm the streets. Father would kill us.”

“We might as well,” I replied hotly. “It’s kill or be killed at this point.”

“Rhett’s right.” Phantom bit down hard on his lip rings and shook his head. “Best thing we can do is wait and see what dear old fucking Dad has to say for himself.”

“Fuck waiting,” I sneered. “Call that bastard up and demand for an explanation.”

“We can’t. You heard what Griffin said. If we call him up bitching him out, it’ll just make things worse for the lot of us.”

“I don’t know, Phantom, I kinda agree with Isaac here. We can’t just sit back and donothing. If Damien is plotting to overrun us and claim our territory, we have to defend it. God only knows how much time we have before those fuckers try to make a move against us. And if what Griffin says is true about Damien and what he’s doing to his own dancers, think about what’ll happen to the girls here at the academy. He’ll enslave them if he doesn’t kill them first.”
