“Akshole is not right,” Felix counters.

The corners of her lips lift slightly at Felix’s use of her nickname. I want to see a full-blown smile from her.

“If you want to stay in your home, that’s fine. We will stay with you there,” I say. I take a bite of my food, intending for the conversation to be over.

I hear them continue to bicker next to me, but now I’m ignoring them. The decision has been made, and I am sticking to it.

An hour later, we are in front of Anna’s building. She didn’t even comment on the fact that we already knew where she lived. She unlocks the front door, showing us her small studio apartment. There’s one bed in the corner, a living room with a sofa, armchair and TV and a small kitchen.

She looks at us smugly. “See? It’s way too small to have you all stay here with me.”

Like that would stop me.

I head right past her and spread out on the couch, making myself comfortable. My huge frame takes up almost the entire thing, but I’ll make it work.

“I’m good,” I say.

Her beautiful green eyes narrow at me. Even mad, she’s truly gorgeous. Her creamy neck is just screaming for my mark.

Griffyn ignores the tension and lounges across the armchair. Felix hops over to the couch, sits on the floor, and leans against it.

Aksel is standing frozen in the doorway. I know he’s trying to find a way out of this when his entire team has given in.

Anna rubs at her temples like she’s alleviating a headache, but vampires don’t get sick. Unless they’re hungry.

I’m about to offer when I realize I can’t. If she tastes my blood, she’ll know we’re mates, and I lose my advantage. But there is someone here she can feed on.

Damn, what I wouldn’t give to be Felix and feel her lips pressing against my neck as she feeds from me. It’s supposed to be incredible between mates.

“If you’re hungry, I’m sure Felix wouldn’t mind,” I say, kicking him in the back.

The smile that spreads on his face is dirty. “She already did.”

Now I’m jealous.

“I’m not hungry. You guys are just overwhelming me. You’re a very pushy lot,” Anna complains.

Griffyn shrugs. “Sorry, it comes with the territory.”

Anna rolls her eyes before heading into the kitchen. “If you want to sleep on the floor for no reason, then be my guest, but I won’t be feeding you or being a hostess. You’re on your own.”

I’m happy with that. As long as I’m close enough to keep her safe while her crazy vampire ex-boyfriend is on the loose, that’s all I need.

“No problem!” Felix says, holding up a thumbs up.

Aksel is still standing by the door, and it’s gone on long enough. He needs to let go and get with the program.

“Aksel, we can pick up some air mattresses and make this work,” I tell him.

He looks torn, like he’s raging a battle in his own mind, and doesn’t know what side he wants to win. Finally, he straightens his shoulders and says, “I guess we are living like peasants then.”

My spine locks. How dare he insult my mate. But before I can say anything, Anna speaks up.

“I’m not asking you to stay here, Akshole, so I won’t hear any complaints about it. Take them up with the three pushy goons making the decision.”

When Aksel perches himself on the arm of the couch, Felix leans over and punches him in the leg. Aksel winces, so I imagine it was pretty hard from the shifter.

“Be nice,” Felix commands. It’s the most authority I’ve ever heard in his voice.
