I’m glad he’s being protective. He will make a good mate to my mate.

Aksel rolls his eyes without apologizing, but he doesn’t keep going either.

Aksel and I went out to get two air mattresses. Between the couch and those, we should be able to make it work. We’ve completely overtaken her apartment, but Anna has kept quiet about it.

Felix and Griffyn take one mattress, knowing no one wants to deal with sharing with Aksel. I take the other since I need the space. There’s an advantage to being the biggest.

Aksel stares at the couch like it has bugs, but ends up lying down without a word.

Anna lays down in bed, ignoring the rest of us.

I fall into a fitful sleep full of nightmares.

I wake up to a whimpering sound. It’s soft, but immediately my instincts are on high alert. The room is full of snores and deep breathing from the other guys.

I sit up, looking around for the source of the whimpers. Anna is thrashing around on her bed, and my heart breaks. She’s having a nightmare.

I move to her, standing awkwardly next to her bed. I don’t know how to help. If I try to soothe her, it could backfire. Waking up to a stranger you just met today touching you while you sleep is absolutely creepy.

My magic can’t help, but someone’s can.

I walk softly to the air mattress with Griffyn and Felix. Softly, I shake Griffyn’s shoulder until his eyes open. He narrows his eyes, but they immediately widen when he hears a whimper.

“What’s going on?” He whispers.

“Anna is having a nightmare. Can you help?” I answer.

He nods, sitting up and quickly making his way over to her. I can feel his pheromones permeate the air. My cock thickens, and all I can think about is my mate.

She stops thrashing and finally calms. An incubus’ hormones have that effect in small doses. When she starts moaning, I know she’s had enough.

Griffyn is breathing in her arousal, lost in the moment. He groans before realizing what he’s doing.

He startles, stopping immediately. I feel the pheromones leave the air. He puts his hand against the back of his neck before realizing it, then stops, straightening up.

“Glad I could help,” He whispers, glancing back at her once before heading back to bed.

I stay up another hour, making sure she’s okay before going to bed myself.

Fourteen

Anna

I wake up after a very restful night’s sleep. Better than any I’ve had since I was turned. I’m usually up multiple times throughout the night, mostly from nightmares.

I’m chalking it up to random luck and not having these guys staying with me.

I’m lying in my bed still, ignoring the world around me, when Aksel speaks.

“If we are staying here, we need to go get our stuff.”

“Quiet down. You don’t want to wake Anna up,” Felix whispers.

“We can both hear she’s awake,” Blaze says.

I guess their shifter hearing picks up on a lot.
