“Aksel didn’t need to know that,” Felix whispers dramatically.

I groan. “Just because I’m awake doesn’t mean I want to hear your voices first thing in the morning!”

“Sorry Anna!” Felix shouts. He hops up on the edge of my bed, disturbing me further.

“We are going to get our stuff. We will be back soon,” Aksel declares. I can see him putting his shoes on by the front door from here.

“I’ll stay here with Anna!” Felix doesn’t move off my bed, getting comfortable at the end.

“No. We are all going,” Aksel growls.

“No. I’m not leaving Anna.” Felix’s voice is firm as he stands up to his boss.

It’s pretty sexy, but still, I say, “I wouldn’t mind some alone time.”

Felix smiles at me like I’m dense. “It’s not safe. I can’t leave you here by yourself.”

Griffyn saves me from having to answer. “I’ll stay too, and we will keep out of your way.”

He’s still lying on his air mattress, but the other one has been deflated and rolled up. At least that gives us some room to walk.

The apartment is one thousand square feet. It’s just one big open space, including my kitchen, living room, and bed.

“Fine,” I relent.

I’m already exhausted from trying to deal with them. Plus, I don’t hate giving in when it pisses off Aksel.

Blaze stops Aksel from complaining by pushing him out the door.

“How much stuff is coming back here?” I ask.

I pull myself out of bed, padding across the room and over to the kitchen.

“Not much. We have to pack light on missions,” Griffyn tells me. He gets off his bed too, but only to lay out across the couch.

My coffee maker has already been turned on, and there’s a fresh batch sitting there. I wonder who made it and what they thought of this thing. It’s my lucky coffee maker that I will never get rid of, but I can admit that it doesn’t work perfectly. The brew time varies greatly.

I pull out my favorite mug. A kitten with its tongue sticking out. It’s simply adorable.

Felix sidles up behind me, grabbing one of my plain mugs for himself.

I decide to be gracious and pour him coffee as well.

“So, you like cats?” Felix asks.

He’s standing incredibly close to me without actually touching me. I can feel the energy coming off his body.

I look up into his hazel eyes, which are crinkled in the corners from his smile.

“Yes, why?”

“Well, no wonder we were made for each other. Don’t forget I’m a feline shifter, Kitten.”

Made for each other. Right, because we’re mates. I ignore the nickname for now; obviously a play on my mug.

I brush past that, instead picturing this imposing male shifting into a little kitty cat. I know he told me when we first met but I didn’t spend time thinking about it then.

I burst out laughing. He just keeps smiling at me, rolling his eyes in a playful manner.
