“Not a cat. I said feline! I’m a snow leopard shifter.”

That’s a lot easier to imagine. It’s a little intimidating to picture him turning into something so fierce, but I don’t let that show on my face.

“Can I see one day?” I ask.

If it’s possible, his smile gets bigger.

“Want to see right now?”

I nod before I really process what I’m agreeing to. Some deep part of me wants to meet the animal living inside him.

“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” Griffyn drawls from the couch. He doesn’t sound all that concerned.

“Why wouldn’t it be?” I question.

Felix shrugs in the worst impression of being innocent. “My snow leopard might be a little destructive, but I’m sure he’ll listen to you.”

“So it’s not you in control?” I ask.

“It’s not that I’m out of control. It’s just that the instincts of my animal completely take over. It’s hard to override them.”

Felix takes a chug of his coffee before setting it aside on the black counter. I startle when he strips off his shirt.

Every defined muscle across his chest and abdomen stares me in the face. They’re perfectly chiseled like all he does is workout all day, every day.

As soon as he notices me staring, he has the cockiest smirk on his face. When he starts to strip off his pants, I finally realize why he’s getting undressed. He’s going to shift for me.

I turn around, so I don’t get an eyeful of his junk to see Griffyn watching us intently.

A wet nose the size of my fist presses against my hand, knocking it like a puppy does for attention.

I slowly swing around to see a snow leopard looking up at me. He has thick grey and yellow-tinged fur with solid spots all over his body. He is pure muscle and powerfully built. He’s much bigger than the actual animal.

The leopard nuzzles my hand again.

“He wants you to pet him,” Griffyn says from the end of the counter. I didn’t even realize he had gotten up.

“The leopard wants me to pet him,” I repeat, dumbfounded.

“Of course. You’re his mate.”

I reach out slowly, giving him time to reject me, but he only moves closer. I stroke his head, and when the animal doesn’t immediately bite my hand off, I scratch him behind his ears.

Crouching down, I get level with him, loving on him hard. Felix nuzzles into my neck, pushing me down to the ground completely. I burst out laughing as I realize a snow leopard is trying to snuggle me right now.

“Alright, get off her. Let her breathe.” Griffyn grabs both my arms tugging me out from underneath him.

Felix nips the air toward Griffyn but doesn’t seem like he’s actually going to hurt him.

“I’m not sure you should come between a shifter and their mate,” I whisper.

The leopard steps forward, pushing his head into my stomach and maintaining contact.

“You can come back now, Felix,” Griffyn tells him. He still has his hands on me, and it feels like a live wire. There are sparks everywhere our skin touches.

The cat ignores him, walking around the apartment and scenting everything before hopping up on my bed. He circles around a few times, clawing at my sheets before getting comfortable.

“Hey! Be careful!” I shout, moving over to him.
