How interesting. There must be shifters or other supernaturals working on those shows who know what they look like.

“And what is Aksel?” I whisper.

I don’t want to ask him myself, but it’s important I know what I’m dealing with.

Blaze glances at Aksel with a furrow in his brow before saying, “Dark fae.”

Ah, so he fits the stereotype. They feed off of negative emotions, so they like to cause them. Aly’s mate Kiran is also a dark fae, but he couldn’t be further from the stereotype.

Of course, Akshole fits it.

The past few days of the guys staying with me have been rough. They have completely taken over my space. It was already a small apartment without all of their stuff everywhere.

Aksel is clearly frustrated. He keeps organizing things and trying to find some semblance of cleanness, but it only takes an hour for things to be a mess again. It makes it easier for me to deal with because it cheers me up every time it looks like he might kill someone.

One of them always comes to the bar with me during my shifts. Luckily, I haven’t had to handle anyone, so it’s been uneventful.

Aksel’s phone rings, drawing everyone’s attention. He checks the caller ID before exiting through my front door for some privacy.

I go back to making some dinner. Felix is helping me out, but neither of us is very good at cooking. I can pull something together but it’s nothing like Jay can.

I shuffle around the ground beef on my pan, ensuring it gets evenly cooked for some tacos. Felix is chopping up toppings to go with it: tomatoes, lettuce, and green peppers.

It’s actually pretty nice having someone help me out. I don’t even mind that we keep bumping into each other because of the lack of space.

I hear the front door swing open. Aksel must be back. I check, just to make sure it’s not anyone else.

He walks into the room slowly and with a thoughtful look on his face. He stops and just stares at us from his spot near the front door. Aksel looks concerned.

“What’s up, Akshole?” I ask.

His eyes shoot up to narrow on me, but he doesn’t comment on the name.

“We got an anonymous tip. The director just called me.”

I look at Felix next to me in the kitchen. What does that mean?

“Why do you look so unhappy about it?” Griffyn asks from the couch.

I’m wondering the same thing. Shouldn’t we be happy about a potential lead on Ryan?

“Well, it could be a trap. We have no idea who it came from or why they sent it.”

“But we have to follow up on it. It’s our only lead, and The Director knows we have it,” Felix says.

Aksel nods. “We do.”

“What’s the lead?” Blaze asks. He’s standing up near the couch, just staring at Aksel.

“That he frequents an underground fight club, the Mystic fight club.”

Blaze raises an eyebrow at the name. “I know it. It’s very dodgy, and you can only get through the door if you put a fighter in the ring. You can’t pay your way in; you have to have something on the line.”

Aksel nods like that makes sense, but I didn’t know anything like this existed.
