Most people get out of his way on sight. The others, he just pushes his way past. No one touches me with the space he clears.

I try to focus on the mission, looking around the room for any sign of Ryan. It’s so crowded it’s almost impossible to take in anyone’s details.

“Everything good?” Felix asks through the comms. He wasn’t happy that we wouldn’t be together, but the teams made the most sense this way. Splitting up the shifters almost always makes sense.

“Yup, just making our way to where Blaze needs to go,” I answer.

People stare at the hulky shifter as we maneuver across the room. I’m starting to get the feeling Blaze has fought here before.

I’m sandwiched between Blaze and Griffyn, so close I keep bumping into them.

When we get to the center, a bulky bouncer-looking dude is guarding the entrance to the ring.

“Killer, it’s good to see you again. You’re up next,” He says.

I need to know the story behind that nickname.

Blaze grunts before focusing on Griffyn and me.

“You’ll stay close while I fight. Don’t get into trouble until I’m done.” He flexes his hands, a small sign that he might be nervous. I’m not sure whether it’s about the fight or separating from us .

I step closer to him, wanting to reassure him.

“You’ll be great. I can’t wait to see what you can do.”

“I’m not worried about the fight. I don’t want to leave you alone,” Blaze tells me. He grabs my arm, tugging me until I’m tucked right against him.

The atmosphere is infectious, and based on the way my pussy throbs at that move, we are both feeling it.

“Then I won’t move,” I tell him. Griffyn coughs from behind me, reminding us both that he’s here too. “And I won’t be alone. Griffyn and I can take care of any trouble that comes our way.”

“I’ll be quick.”

“Killer, you’re up.” A masculine voice says from Behind Blaze.

I don’t know what comes over me, but I tug him down while standing on my toes and press my lips against his cheek. I can feel his stubble against my lips before I quickly pull away.

I hope the dim lighting hides any blush I might have. He just stares down at me for a second before turning and entering the ring.

Griffyn throws an arm around my shoulder, pulling me tight against his side as we both watch.

Blaze’s opponent is also large but not as bulky as Blaze. His head is shaved, and he’s completely covered in tattoos. He looks cocky as hell as he licks the front of his teeth while looking Blaze over.

Is he another shifter? I never even asked what kind of round Blaze would be participating in.

“Is this a magical round?” I turn, whisper shouting up to Griffyn. I don’t need anyone around us to realize how clueless I am right now.

“It’s not. His opponent is a shifter, too, although I can’t tell what from here. Nothing is bigger than a dragon, but he’s large. I would guess a bear. Shifters tend to look like their animal counterparts.”

I think about Felix. He’s sultry in the way he moves, lithe, muscular, and sleek. That makes sense. His eyes, which are a mixture of green, gold, and blue, match a snow leopard perfectly.

A bell dings signaling the beginning of the fight. Blaze doesn’t wait, lunging forward and decking the other guy right in the jaw. The next is a direct punch to his stomach, causing him to bend.

He doesn’t look so cocky now. He tries to hit Blaze back, but his attempts are feeble.

Blaze is an animal up there. He’s quick, efficient, and brutal.

“I can’t believe I put money on The Predator. I didn’t know it was going to be against The Killer,” The guy next to me says. He appears older, which means he must really be getting up there. Supernaturals don’t show age the same way humans do.
