I can’t stop myself from trying again. “You’re not taking advantage! I want you so badly.”

He throws his head back as far as he can, groaning. His lip curls up into a pained sneer, and his breathing deepens. “You don’t know how good those words sound coming from your mouth. You’re fucking killing me. This is like an appetizer and you’re offering me a feast.”

“Then eat!”

He pulls me against his body. All of his muscles press into my soft curves. His erection is rock hard, pressing into my stomach.

There’s a loud boom that’s unlike any sound I’ve ever heard, causing my ears to ring. An explosion shakes the ground under my feet, and the temperature rises.

I’m frozen in shock. I think a bomb just went off.

It takes me a minute to realize Griffyn is shaking me, and there are voices in my ears.

“Anna! Look at me.”

“Are you both fine? Tell me right the fuck now!”

“We avoided the blast, but it was close to you guys.”

“I’m fine,” I croak.

I think I’m actually pretty far from fine, but I need to keep it together right now.

“Where is Blaze? He isn’t answering, and we can’t get to your side. People are everywhere pushing us to get out,” Aksel says.

Blaze isn’t answering? If the explosion was close to us, that means it was near him. He wasn’t protected by a closet like we were.

I turn the handle, burning my hand as I do. I know I’ll heal, so I push through the pain and shove the door open.

“Anna, wait!”Griffyn shouts, but it’s too late.

There’s destruction everywhere. The heat of the fire burns against my skin. Bodies are strewn around the room in various states of death.

Fuck. Where the hell is Blaze?

I run towards where the ring is crumbled and on fire.

“Anna, don’t!” Griffyn tries to stop me, but I keep running.

Blaze needs me. I can feel it.

“What’s happening?” Felix growls.

“She’s heading for Blaze,” Griffyn answers.

I dodge falling beams and burning bodies, making my way to where I last saw Blaze.

I spot him immediately. His body is lying at an unnatural angle, blood streaming down his face.

“Blaze!” I slide down on my knees next to him.

I press my hands against his body, but I don’t think there’s anything I can do.

Griffyn drops down next to me, eyes glued to Blaze’s body. He presses two fingers against the pulse point in Blaze’s neck.

His shoulders drop. “His pulse is strong. I think he was just knocked out. His shifter body will heal quickly. I just need to set his bones, so he heals correctly.”

“You found Blaze?” Aksel’s voice is insistent.
