They all share a look that I’m not liking at all.

“Anna, infiltrating a current residence will be intense. We are trained for this,” Felix says.

I furrow my eyebrows. “What are you trying to say?”

“We aren’t taking you with us,” Aksel says, smug.

I draw back, completely thrown.

“Shut the fuck up, Aksel,” Griffyn growls. He turns back to me, “That’s not it. We want you to come to Michigan with us but not the actual house. It’s too dangerous.”

Felix steps forward, but I don’t let him touch me. “It’s because we care about you.”

Aksel scoffs.

My stomach sinks. I’m this close to Ryan, and they want to leave me out?

I take a deep breath, trying not to be offended. They care and are trying to keep me safe. It’s not an insult. I’m just a bartender, and they’re a highly trained elite team. I say the words, but it still doesn’t feel right.

“I think I should be there. I feel it in my gut,” I say passionately. My hand smacks against my stomach to emphasize my point.

“Anna,” Felix starts gently but Aksel cuts in.

“You aren’t coming. If you fight me on this, I will chain you to a bed somewhere these three won’t be able to find you. You’ve been playing agent, but this is serious.”

I can see in his dual-colored eyes that he’s serious. Aksel isn’t going to be talked out of this, and he will ensure it happens. The door is closing in front of me, and I need to take some control of the situation.

“Fine. I’ll agree but with conditions. If Ryan isn’t there, I get to transport in. If he is and you capture him, I get to see him before you take him in.”

“What makes you think you get to have conditions?” Aksel seethes.

I keep my focus on Felix and Griffyn. I just need them on my side to advocate for me.

“That feels reasonable,” Felix says, turning to stare down Aksel.

“Or we don’t negotiate and leave her here,” Aksel counters, but it’s obvious he’s calmed down some.

I have a trump card here, and I’m about to play it.

“Agree to my terms, and I’ll provide something that’ll help you find Ryan easier,” I offer.

All their eyes widen. Yes, I’ve been holding out on you. It wasn’t useful until now, but if we have to use scent for hunting him down, then it’s invaluable.

“You have his scent,” Blaze guesses.

“Yes.”

The three of them turn to look at Aksel. It’s obvious they want to agree, but he’s the hold out.

“That’ll help a lot,” Griffyn says.

“We will find him faster,” Felix confirms.

I wonder why they don’t use their pack bond to communicate?

“Fine!” Aksel throws his hands up before storming out of the room.

“He’s so dramatic,” I say.
