I stand and get dressed in the clothes he gave me to wear, holding the collar up to my nose, inhaling his masculine scent. Dragging the pine and earth smell deep into my lungs.

It almost makes me feel better. For some reason, I feel like he’s near. Feel like he’s alright. That he’ll be home soon.

Following that logic, I go to the kitchen and start a pot of coffee on the stove. All of the appliances are new and sparkling. The whole cabin has a soft, rustic appeal that I really like. I feel content here in a way I never did in the city.

After the coffee brews, I pour a mug and sit at the small table, just staring at the steam rising from the mug. I lift it in my hands but don’t drink. Just wrapping my hands around the steaming warmth and closing my eyes.

“What are you doing, Angel?” A smile curls my lips.

“I’m thinking about you, Bennet.”

“Why?” he asks, his voice a soft rumble in my ear, his breath warm on my skin, making me shiver.

“Because I love you,” I sigh, opening my eyes and smiling happily, tears starting to my eyes when I see Bennet standing in front of me. My eyes run up and down his body. Bennet’s not tall. Only five foot five. But I’ve never seen a steadier, stronger man. He’s exactly what I need.

“I missed you when you weren’t there when I opened my eyes. But I knew you’d be back.”

His firm lips curl up into an amazing smile. “I missed you too, baby girl. It took everything in me to leave this morning. If I didn’t need to take care of your problem, I would have woken you up with my head between your gorgeous thighs.”

“That sounds perfect,” I giggle. “Maybe tomorrow morning.”

“Count on it,” he growls and then his lips land on mine. Gentle at first and then stronger, his tongue licking along my lips until I open them and he can invade my mouth, devouring my soft moans and sighs. He picks me up from the table and groans.

“Fuck, I need you right now, baby girl.”

I whimper and writhe in his arms, trying to lick his neck, nip at the rough jawline.

He throws me on the bed and crawls up my body. “Time to get naked, sweetheart. I need this body right now.”

Clothes fly and within minutes we’re stripped down and our bodies are wrapped around each other. He leans back just before his cock slips inside me and groans. “I love you so much, Angel. Just so you know, you’re never getting away from me. If you try, I’ll hunt your sweet ass down and paddle it red before I fuck you until you’re round with my baby.”

His hand wraps around my hair and he pulls my mouth up to his. “Fair warning, Angel.”

I smile against his lips. “I don’t want to. I love you, Bennet. You make me feel so safe. I’ve never had that before. My whole life I’ve felt like I was looking for something but when I found you, I felt at peace. Like this is home.”

His emerald eyes darken and he growls, “Perfect. Because I have been looking for my woman for years. Never knowing that one day in a storm, she’d show up out of the wind and snow like a glittering angel and steal my heart, holding it in her precious hands for the rest of our lives.”

His mouth gently teases mine as he slides inside me. I’m floating on a hazy wave of love and desire, lost to his burning touch and raging hunger.

Our bodies twine together until we fly away, screaming and moaning our joy in this moment. Our love for each other. And our hope for the future.

The future that I know will be the one that was meant to be. I sigh and cuddle my head into his broad shoulder, closing my eyes. His lips caress my cheek and he whispers in my ear. “I love you, Angel. You’re it for me. I know we’re going to be happy for the rest of our lives.”

The way he says it is like a blood oath. A sworn vow. One that I know he’ll keep. I’m safe with him. Always.

Epilogue Two: Bennet

I wait at the end of the aisle in the only church in these mountains. The organ plays and my heart jumps when Harleigh’s rounded figure slips out from around the corner. I sniff and Jeremy dangles a handkerchief in front of my eyes.

I glare at him. “Very funny.”

“You look like you need it.”

“I’m fine.” I sniff and rub my sleeve over my eyes.

“Beautiful, you lunatic. What’s the difference between your sleeve and the hankie?”

“Shut up,” I hiss when Harleigh comes to stand beside me.
