“What do you think?” Her hand goes to her hair.

“You’ll meet the right guy one day. A guy who will see past your scars.”

“Yeah, I’m not sure that will ever happen.”

“Of course it will.”

“I can’t imagine…” Her mobile phone vibrates and she checks the message.

“Is it Tally?” I ask, growing impatient. “Is she almost done?”

“Uh… she needs us to go in there.”

“What, why?”

“I don’t know. Come on, before she makes a scene.” Abigail climbs out of the car and reluctantly, I follow. I want to get the damn cake and go to Tally’s house.

“There isn’t even a queue,” I say as I glance through the windows, spying Tally at the counter talking to one of the cute shop assistants.

“I’m sure she has her reasons,” Abigail says, checking her phone again.

My brows knit, a strange feeling trickling down my spine.

“Abi, what’s going on?”

“What? Nothing. We’re getting—”

“Olivia.”

His voice makes my breath catch and I turn around to find Reese standing there, freshly showered and more gorgeous than ever.

“What are you doing—” My gaze slides to Abigail and guilt washes over her.

“Don’t be mad. He knew you wouldn’t agree otherwise.”

“Agree to what? What the hell is going on?”

“You’re not coming with me and Tally,” she says.

“I’m not?”

“No, you’re going with Reese.”

“Like hell I am.” Anger floods me.

“You need to hear him out, Liv.”

“Why?”

“Because I did, and I believe him.”

“You two talked… about me?” Betrayal fists my heart.

“It wasn’t like that. Reese came to me and asked for my help. He—”
