Page 165 of Suck It Up

For the first time ever, I've actually surprised Camden into speechless staring. He's gawping with his mouth open like a carp.

I chuckle and bring my lips to his. That's also a first, my initiating a kiss. It won’t be the last time.

He stops the kiss to ask, “You love me?"

He's utterly stunned.

“I love you, Camden. Why else would I let you do everything you do to me?”

“Well, there's about five hundred thousand dollars on the line,” he teases.

I swat his arm.“I would never have agreed to our deal if I didn’t love you already.”

“Yes!” he screams, holding his fist up in the air in a victory sign. “She loves me!”

The door swings open just then. “Evidently," Dimitri says, walking in at the head of a small procession. "Why else would she put up with your shit?”

Roman and Rhys are following him, but my eyes go straight to the last to arrive: Willow.

She rushes to my bedside. "Morgan!"

She tries to hug me, but I grimace when the needle in my arm shifts. Willow jumps back.

"Careful of the IV."

"You look like shit! I can't believe some idiot biker ran you down!"

I glance at Camden. Good thinking for the cover story on his part. "I'm okay," I assure her. "Promise."

"Can we deal with the fact that Camden was yelling about love?" Roman says, hopping at the feet of the bed.

Camden shoots him his middle finger.

“Better you than me. I'll pass on being rendered insane by that sickness called love," Rhys puts in.

“That was strangely romantic," I tease him. "Do you read morbid poetry in your spare time?”

“Fuck you," he retorts with a glower.

I inhale sharply. “You totally do!”

“If you don't stop talking, sweet, I’ll strangle your pretty neck with my bare hands.”

“Promise?” I wink.

“Stop flirting with Rhys, Morgan." Dimitri grins. "You just told the poor shmuck you loved him. Take pity on him.”

“I’m confident enough in my girlfriend’s feelings to not care one bit about my lesser cousin flirting with her.”

"Lesser?" Rhys feigns offense.

We all laugh, though I flinch when I engage my abs.I have a lot more people who care about me—who take care of me—now. Not just Erica and Lola.

Suddenly, something Camden says hits me. “I’m your girlfriend now?”

“You’ve been my girlfriend for months, Morgan," Camden replies indulgently.

"You're literally the only one who didn't know it," Roman agrees.
