Addie doesn’t seem as pleased by her declaration. Her plump lips part with a little gasp.

I guess she’s never seen Chelsea’s lethal side. Which is all bullshit except in her mind. In this situation, I won’t let her believe any different. She needs to stand up to this bastard.

Just like Addie’s standing up to me.

Again.

God. I love this woman.

With my approval of her threat, Chelsea relaxes and snuggles back into Addie’s side.

“We’re going to watch a movie.”

I glance at my watch. “Fine. She’s yours for a few hours. Then I get her to myself.”

Addie goes rigid despite my sister cuddling with her. “While I appreciate the cooperation and compromise between the two of you, don’t I get a say in how I spend my time?”

Chels tugs at her tee shirt. “Will you watch my favorite movie with me please?”

The power of pity works of course, and Addie softens, nodding to Chels. Woe always works with women.

I refrain from rolling my eyes at her forlorn performance and play it straight with my girl.

“I owe you. I’m taking you out for your birthday.”

My admission isn’t too shabby either by the smoothing of her expression. The idea impresses Chelsea too. All of her melancholy instantly disappears, and she spins around, lit up like Addie’s diamond.

“Take her to Summit 11. It’s so romantic.”

Agreeing with her is the only way to make her stop. I hold Addie’s gaze which is no hardship with her striking face. “I will pick you up at eight. If I’m not here, it means I’m dead.”

A shiver tremors through her slender body. I’m serious as fuck, and I think she knows I’m good for it. I won’t be late again.

Immature as ever, my sister sticks her tongue out at me and drags Addie away, who surprisingly doesn’t seem quite as eager to leave with her gaze lingering on me despite Pete’s paws thudding to the stairs.

I wink at her. “Enjoy your movie.”

No response. Maybe she’s absorbing my sincerity. Hopefully.

True to my word, I don’t stop their departure and hustle to my office, where I pull up the camera for the media room as soon as my ass hits the chair. Just because I’m working doesn’t mean I can’t keep an eye on my fireball.

Won’t lie though that Addie’s perfect face distracts me while I check my investments now that some of the international markets have closed already. She laughs as Chels flits around starting the popcorn maker and fucking with the dimmer switches.

I give her credit for not being annoyed as my sister recites the lines along with the actors and hops up from her seat to act out the scenes at some points. Proof once again that Addie has more patience than I’ll ever comprehend.

A double knock on the door forces me to pull my attention away from my woman. Jace remains in the doorway until I beckon to him. “Enter.”

He’s quick to react and beelines to the chair across from my desk, already reading from his tablet as he drops down.

“Meeting with Kirill is tonight at nine at the—”

Fuck. “No.”

His head jerks up from studying the screen. I’ve shocked him, and now I’m going to piss him off too.

He’s done exactly what I’ve asked but Addie’s more important. I’m not sure how or why but somehow she is. I refuse to wreck my relationship with her.

All my life I’ve sacrificed my desires for the business. That changes with her. For her. “Make it tomorrow at five a.m. I want it to be as inconvenient for him as possible.”
