Titan.

He waits by the stairs, beyond handsome in a sleek black tuxedo that he wears way better than Pete. Hell better than any other man I’ve ever seen.

When he smiles his sexy smile at me, my heart flutters. Why am I so foolish?

“Ready, angel?”

Like a magnet, I can’t resist the lure and float toward him. “You look incredible.”

“So do you.”

The devil can be charming when he wants. “Thank you.”

His penetrating gaze drifts from my simple top to my bare feet and back up again, before hovering on my face, warming from his deliberate inspection. “I guess I should go change.”

One eyebrow arches. “You thought I wasn’t coming.”

A statement rather than a question since he already knows the answer. “You like being right.”

He winks. “In this case, I like proving you wrong.”

If he’s offended, I can’t tell from his tone or his expression. He seems almost playful. I guess mischievous is better than irritated.

Chelsea’s squeal screeches behind me. “I knew it! My brother’s not that stupid to stand you up twice.”

The humor instantly vanishes, and he snarls at her. “I didn’t stand her up once. I was late.”

She huffs at him. “But if you hadn’t—”

“It’s fine.” Their argument will lead us down a rabbit hole of insanity I won’t be able to crawl out of. I spin back around.

Despite her silence, her finger still stabs in the air at Titan.

“Will you help me with my hair please?”

My request distracts her as expected. Iamher project after all. Besides, she loves being my stylist, and I love making her happy. She grabs my hand and drags me back into her room, glancing at her brother over her shoulder. “Give me thirty minutes then your princess will be ready.”

“She’s already my queen, Chels.”

Deep and gravelly, his voice melts my lingering hesitation. Just like always, he’s confident and certain while I ‘m still cautious and careful. But I made a promise. I’ll give him a second chance.

My smile persists the entire time Chels works on me despite me trying to calm myself down. With the curly tendrils framing my face after she coils my long strands into a fancy twist and the sophisticated dress glistening under her chandelier, I do feel like royalty.

“Let me do your make-up too.”

“Do we have time?”

It seems like a half hour has already passed.

She shakes her head. “Don’t worry about it. Titan has this weird sixth sense or something. He always seems to know exactly when I need him. He’ll show up at just the right time.”

I ponder her comment while she mists my face with a tiny spray gun. Titan does the same thing with me. Too much of a coincidence.

I scan the walls until she instructs me to look up. A single black dot provides the only color on her otherwise iridescent light.

A camera.

He watches her. Me. Everyone.
