At Nick’s cry, he let go of his arm, throwing him hard against the wall.
“Oh my god,” his sister stood frozen, her hand over her mouth.
“Sorry. This guy keeps hitting a nerve,” Quinn said.
“Colette, please, don’t mention anything to Henri.”
“Dad is going to be crushed.”
“Don’t tell him! I’ll take you to dinner tonight and explain everything.”
Colette’s gaze wandered from Quinn to Erik to Nick. Her stony expression made him feel like a foot tall.
“I won’t tell dad. On one condition.”
“Anything,” Nick said.
“You set up a meeting between Xander Montague and me.”
“Xander doesn’t take meetings,” Nick said.
“Exactly. Set it up by tonight and text me the details.”
“I can come with you,” Nick said.
“Fine. And you can’t take me to dinner tonight. You and Mulberry are meeting Maman.”
“I forgot,” Nick’s phone beeped at the moment with the reminder.
“Colette, whatever you think Nick has done, it isn’t it. You won’t believe it, but it’s not a conflict of Laurent Industries.” Quinn said.
“I’ll be the judge of that,” she said. “I expect to hear from you in an hour, Nicky.”
“Okay, but just pretend like you didn’t find this out until then, okay?”
“Sure, whatever.” She spun on her heel and walked out of the office.
“Great. This is exactly what I need.” Nick pressed the heels of his palms to his eyes.
“Sorry, man,” Erik said. He brushed by them and stormed out of the office.
“Fuck him. He needs off the team.”
“He’ll always be a Bandit Brother.”
“Not to me, he isn’t. Shooting his mouth off like that.”
“Quinn, he thought we were alone.”
Quinn clapped him on the shoulder. “He wasn’t supposed to talk about it at all. Never.”
“I know, okay? I just can’t think about it right now. I got to make sure Mulberry is safe.”
“You’re taking care of her really well, from what I can see.” Quinn grinned.
“Bye, Quinn,” Nick walked him to the door.
Okay, so it could be a headache for Xander if Colette blabbed about it to the wrong people. But Erik’s comment was vague, so maybe she’ll just think it’s to do with software and technology and not secret operations because who would randomly believe that? Nick shook his head.
