“Mom! That’s not true,” Mulberry protested.

Grave waved a hand. “Maybe I just need more sleep. Tell me how it’s going. You two look cozy this week. I saw the pictures. Ever since the gala night, you’ve been the couple to watch.”

Mulberry’s cheeks heated. “It’s fine. It was actually fun. I went with Nick today to see his dad’s studio interview. I like Henri Laurent. There is something gregarious about him.”

“And do you like Nick too?” Her mom raised her slender eyebrow.

“Mom! You know this isn’t real,” Mulberry whispered.

“You guys looked so real together. You never know. It could happen.”

“I don’t think! He’s not my type. He’s self-centred and a bit of an ass.”

Grace smiled. “It must be hard for him to balance being a bodyguard and the new COO of Laurent Industries.”

“Henri sprung that on him this morning.”

“Yikes,” her mom twirled noodles around chopsticks. “What a way to back Nick into a corner. What was he going to do, say no on national television? Correct, his father?”

Mulberry frowned. It was a bit of an impossible situation. “No, I guess he is just going to roll with it. He complains about his family but is also loyal to them.”

“Families are complex,” Grace said. “I’m sure he’s happy to have you by his side.”

“He seems rather annoyed I’m here,” Mulberry said.

“Do you want another bodyguard?”

“I thought about that, but how would we pull that off? I’d have to fake break up with him, it’d be messy, and then I’d have to go into hiding because I couldn’t fake date a new bodyguard, right?”

“Well, I guess you could, but it wouldn’t be quiet. The media is calling you and Nick the next glam couple.”

Obviously, she was attracted to Nick, but his personality gave her whiplash. He could be cold, distant and demanding. And then he could be caring, considerate and protective the next minute. She felt flushed thinking of that orgasm he heaped upon her.

“The police have said there is no evidence of the break-in being related to your abduction. Maybe they are right, but we’ll give it more time, right?”

“A little longer,” Mulberry agreed.

“Are you going to stay and watch me shoot?”

“Sure, I’d like that.”

“Great. And if you hang around enough, you’ll see Emma’s part. Maybe we can all go to dinner together.”

Mulberry smiled as a knock came on the trailer. Patrick opened the door, sticking his head in. “Hey, Grace, I just wanted to see if you had a few minutes to review that last scene? Hi Mulberry.”

“Hey, Patrick. We’re done lunch if you want to go,” Mulberry smiled.

Grace flushed a little bit, and she grinned at her co-actor. “I’ll be right there.

“Excellent.”

“Patrick?” Mulberry waggled her eyebrows.

Grace shrugged. “He’s nice, and I think you have your own love life to worry about.”

Mulberry laughed, helped her mom tidy up the take-out debris and then went to watch the filming.
