We were the lookouts, watching for anyone who went into the building. All of the lights were off aside from our floor, which was eerie to see. Cars passed us, the city coming to life as the sun started to rise.

My stomach felt sick. There was so much fear and anxiety, all of the emotions churning together. But, we had to be strong.

Ember held the walkie talkie to her lips as the person we were waiting to spot showed up on the sidewalk, heading straight for the doors.

Alfred’s assistant.

She had a RBF that was hard to forget, and I knew it too damn well after being imprisoned too long. She had been one of the ‘agents’ to check on me regularly, making sure I was still alive. She was cruel.

We all doubted that Alfred cared about her, but kidnapping her could still be used as leverage.

“Go for agent bitch face,” Ember said into the walkie.

“Ten-four,” Billy growled back.

Billy, Jaehan, and Charlie had showed up ready to fight. Hell, all of us had.

This was the last time we would deal with this fucker.

I watched, knowing that I couldn’t see Charlie as he moved through the crowd. No one could see him, which was something he had discovered he could now do at will. Turning his invisibility off and on took concentration, but he seemed to be enjoying it. I didn’t know a lot about the three of them, but I was thankful someone was able to do that.

Alfred’s assistant made it the door, only for her to suddenly freeze. Her hand struck out as she attempted to use her magic, but she was promptly pulled down the sidewalk and to an alley near the garbage cans.

“Let's go,” Ember whispered.

The two of us left our spot, Ember waving her hand to use her magic to shield us from any spying eyes above.

We ran across the street, heading towards the alley. Billy appeared next to us, the three of us going to where the assistant was now pinned down by Charlie’s tentacles.

She let out muffled noises and growls, her eyes burning with fury.

“Good morning,” Ember said, glaring at her. “Where is my sibling?”

Charlie let go of her mouth, which she opened to let out a scream until Billy casually held a knife to her throat.

“Listen,” Billy said. “I really don’t want to start my Thursday morning with fresh blood on my hands, but I will. We’re not playing games and I remember you, you bitch. Answer the god damned question.”

“The moment Alfred hears that Alex didn’t come alone, they’re dead,” she hissed.

“Do you think Alfred would care if we killed you?” Billy asked. “Or are you like his little office toy? His lonely follower?”

“Shut up,” she sneered. “Alfred is doing great things. He has a vision of the future.”

“No, he has a vision for himself,” Billy snapped.

“I’m going to ask again,” Ember said, glaring. “Where are they?”

“I’m not telling you,” she hissed. “I’d rather die.”

Billy made a little tsk, shaking his head. “So be it then.”

He started to move the knife, but then she let out a squeak, making him pause.

“Oh, so maybe you don’t want to die?” Billy asked. “Or would you like it to be a little slower?”

“You fucking beast,” she growled, glaring at him.

Billy snorted. “As if you haven’t killed monsters and witches alike.”
