She was silent, her eyes still angry. “Fuck you.”

“No thanks, I have my mates for that,” he chuckled. “Answer Ember’s question and we will let you go.”

She stared at him for a moment and then let out a hiss. “Cinder is in Art’s office.”

“And Mich and Lora?”

“I don’t know,” she said.

Billy dug the blade in, drawing a bit of blood.

“I don’t know!” she hissed. “I really don’t! Alfred put them away, I just handled Cinder since they’re a witch. Now let me go like you said.”

Billy stared at her for a moment and then snorted, pulling the blade away. In one swift motion, he hit her hard enough in the head to knock her out.

Charlie’s tentacles pulled away, leaving her on the ground.

“Well,” I said. “That was…something.”

“We’ll focus on getting them,” Ember said. “And then the other team will focus on Alfred.”

I nodded and then leaned down, using my silk to bind the assistant. Within a few moments, she was thoroughly tied up and going nowhere.

“Your webs are handy,” Charlie said, giving me a smile.

I grinned back at him, shrugging. “Sometimes.”

“Alright,” Billy said, putting the knife back in his jeans. “I’m ready for another three day weekend. I know Alex is your mate, so I mean this nicely, but I like it when he decides to pay us extra for no reason other than because Inferna tells him to.”

I couldn’t help but laugh. I had heard about the infamous three day weekends at Warts and Claws. Every time something bad happened, everyone got the following Monday off paid.

Our group looked up at the building, the rising sun turning the sky golden. Steam rose from the ground, drifting up.

The walkie went off, Art’s voice echoing. “We’re in the building. Good luck, stay sharp, be safe.”

The four of us looked at each other, nerves working through us.

We had all split up into groups, based on what made sense. Unfortunately it meant some of us weren’t with our mates, but it worked for the best.

The four of us worked well together, and Ember was a powerful witch. Calen, Jaehan, Anne, and Lea were a team. The other was Minni, Inferna, Art, and Alex. Team A, B, and C.

Now that we knew C was in the building, the four of us could go on. They would be working towards Alfred, we would be working towards Cinder, Mich, and Lora— while the other team was working on taking out the henchmen.

We went to a door that was on the side of the building and Billy yanked it off the hinges. Charlie snorted, a little smirk resting on his lips that was almost idiotic adoration.

We were met with the cool air of the office building, and the scent of magic. The kind that burned, the kind that sent a shiver up your spine.

“Well,” Billy muttered. “This is going to be fun.”

All of us were ready to fight, our senses on edge as we moved down the hall. The lights flickered ahead, Ember and Billy staying in front while Charlie and I took the back.

“We’re taking the stairs,” Ember said.

We moved down the hall until we came to another set of doors where the steps started.

“Fuck, I really didn’t plan for leg day today,” Billy sighed.

“Shush,” Ember snickered.
