I glared at him, ready to spring into a fight.

“You didn’t come alone,” he said. “There’s also that, which will need to be handled. I knew that you wouldn’t. You’d rather let all of the monsters and witches die for you than be a bigger person and come alone.”

That was what had fucked me up for so long.

Those types of words. Those types of beliefs.

Anne and Sylvia had finally shaken me to my core— reminding me that no, I wasn’t alone.

No, I didn’t have to be here alone.

I had to trust them to be able to do what they were able to.

I had to believe them when they said that they would be okay.

I had been taking so much power, hungry for it for so long. Driving myself to the brink of madness to attain it, all at the expense of myself. I had been lonely. I had been a bad leader. A bad manager.

A bad friend.

A bad person.

“They will have to be punished too,” Alfred said. “They will have to die.”

His words snapped me out of my thoughts and I rose to my feet. I could feel his magic, the stolen bits that belonged to omega witches. He shouldn’t have had magic in the first place.

I would take it from him, once and for all. I would take it from him and return him back to hell, to a place he would never return from.

Alfred raised his hand, his claws gleaming in the ugly office lighting like razors. I raised my hand too, my magic buzzing at my fingertips.

Crack…crack…

I blinked. Alfred scowled and looked up at the ceiling.

Crack.

The ceiling suddenly gave way— the tiles collapsing, the boards and dust going everywhere as Art, Inferna, and Minni fell straight onto our enemy.

I watched in awe as they all hit the floor, a ball of bad words and chaos.

“For fuck’s sake!” Inferna growled.

Alfred let out a string of curses as the three of them rolled off him, giving me the moment I needed.

I dove forward, using every ounce of my magic to restrain him.

Art rolled to his feet, immediately joining me.

Alfred let out a frustrated roar, only for Inferna to pop him hard in the jaw. The sound of his bones cracking had me distracted for a moment, even in the chaos making a mental note to never actually piss her off.

Minni kicked Alfred hard with a snarl, sending him down to his knees.

My magic burned through me, the air shimmering with blue heat. I felt the electricity run through me, the power rising up like a wave.

Alfred was frozen in place now, fighting against me. His magic was much stronger than before, and holding him still was harder than I had planned on.

Sweat broke out across my forehead, the feeling of doom sending an icy chill down my spine.

Alfred’s gaze met mine, his words a sneer. “If I’m going down, this whole place is going with me.”
