“So hot.”

“So fucking hot.”

I mean, it was. I really can’t argue against it. There was sweat dripping from his brow, his face was stoic, and he radiated power and intensity. While I may be swearing off players, and I’m only in this to get paid, I’m not dead.

“Let’s not forget about him banging on the glass during that little kiss cam moment.” Lucy turns her head toward me, her brows wiggling all over the place. “Hell, I’m married, and I thought it was hot as fuck.”

“Do you guys always talk about the players like this after the game?” I fake a gasp, clutching Lucy’s arm tighter and glance over at Elle who’s giggling as we round a corner.

“Not always.”

“Sometimes it’s worse.” Elle fans herself as her cheeks tint pink, like she’s overheating in the fifty degree weather instead of just getting embarrassed. “You should have heard her last week when Rhett threw off his gloves and pummeled that goalie.”

I give Elle a light shove and scrunch my nose. “Oh, gross. That’s my brother.”

“I hate to tell you,” she mock whispers, grabbing my free arm and looping it with hers, mimicking Lucy, “but I think your brother has violated my sister.”

Lucy bumps against me, causing me to bump into Elle, and I take a breath and enjoy this moment.

Growing up with two brothers was great, and I wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world, but it’s nice feeling like I have sisters. Technically, Lucy is the only one related to me through marriage, but it’s always felt like they’re a package deal, and I was immediately accepted into their family.

Even if she has let my brother… nope. Don’t even want to think about it.

“If that game was any indication, we’re all getting violated tonight,” Lucy cackles, pulling us to a stop outside of Whiskey and Rye, the team’s unofficial bar.

I’m not sure if the owners intended it to be a sports bar, but with their proximity to the arena and the amount of beers they have on tap, the Devils have made it their spot to hang out after home games.

“Tag always comes back with a lot of excess energy to burn after a game.”

My eyes widen as she grabs my hand and drags me to the back of the bar, to an area reserved for the players. “Always?”

“Oh, yeah. Even after coming to the bar, he’s always so amped up,” she pulls me close and whispers in my ear, “he keeps me up for hours, Avery. The amount of orgasms that man gives out should be criminal.”

“I can hear you,” Lucy whines as she reaches around me and gives Elle a light slap across her shoulder. “Also, I know what you do after the games. I may be your big sister, but I’m no nun.”

“Not knocked up, you’re not.”

“You think they’d kick me out of the nunnery?”

I nod, pulling out a chair and sitting down next to Lucy while Elle takes a spot on the other side of the table. “Absolutely. Unless you left first. I don’t think they’d let you have a pink habit.”

“Which is a damn shame.”

“And you probably can’t say damn.”

“Damn.”

As soon as we’re seated, Arden, one of the newer waitresses, greets us with a smile. She’s dressed in the standard bar uniform of black shorts and a black tank top, but has fishnets on under her shorts and bright purple hair. I don’t know much about her, but she seems great. Plus, she doesn’t get all star-struck around the guys. If anything, I don’t think she’s the biggest fan of athletes.

“What will it be tonight ladies?” she asks as she taps a finger against her pink bubblegum lips.

“Just water for me.”

Lucy leans back and rubs the small baby bump concealed beneath her ruffled pink dress. She’s about three and a half months along, and aside from a small fainting incident shortly after the start of football season, she’s been doing great.

I can’t wait for Mason to have a little cousin, even if they really can’t play for a bit.

“I’ll take a Cougar Bait.” Elle smiles and sinks down in her chair, grabbing the drink menu from the center of the table and covering her face. “I don’t think I have long before Tag puts a baby in me, so I’d better enjoy it.”
