I groaned inwardly. “I doubt it had anything to do with me.”

“You should be very happy I’m not in Napa right now, Press.”

“Why is that?”

“I’d give you the punch in the face you so richly deserve for being a complete idiot about this.”

Zin and I sparred regularly as part of our workout routine. “You’d never land one.”

He sighed. “I have an idea. Actually, it was Seraphina’s idea, but she wasn’t sure about the logistics of it.”

Logistics? I was intrigued. “Go on.”

“Given we’re beyond Christmas, we’re entering the slowest time of the year for the wine business. The tasting rooms aren’t on the property anyway, so even if they were busy, it wouldn’t matter.”

“Your point?”

“You know Ridge was talking about hiring Luisa, right?”

I was ready to reach through the phone and throttle him. “Point, Zin?”

“Why don’t you hire her? She can help with the stuff you normally do, so you can help your dad with the stuff Beau normally does.”

“Hold up a minute. Have you talked to him?”

“I have,” he admitted.

Bloody hell.“He called you and not our father? Or me? How long does he intend to be away?”

“He doesn’t know.”

“Selfishsonuvabitch. I hope to hell Noah Cullen knocks some sense into the bastard.” The man had been a member of Los Caballeros at the same time my father, Ridge’s, and Zin’s had been. Brix’s father had led the group back then, the same way Brix did now. The Cullens were like family, which made the relationship between Beau and Daphne all the more complicated.

“He isn’t going to Australia.”

“Where’s he going?”

Zin cleared his throat. “He wouldn’t say.”

“This is preposterous. He knows we have the ability to track him.”

“Maybe so, Press, but he begged me to convince you this is the right thing for him.”

Something else occurred to me. “My father already knows this, doesn’t he?”

“He’s aware.”

“Meaning he spoke with my brother?”

“Yes, Press.”

“I’ll ring you back.” As much as I wanted to hurl the phone against the wall, I set it on the table and went in search of my dad.

LUISA

“Press will never agree to it, and besides, he’s got so much going on. I can’t be an added burden.”
