“Zin is talking to him now, and that Press has so much going on is the point, Luisa. He needs the help, and you have the ability and the education to provide it. Think of it as giving back some of what he’s given you.”

“So I’d work for Barrett Family Vintners for free?”

My sister cocked her head. “No one is suggesting you work for free, Luisa.”

“I wouldn’t feel right accepting money from them.”

I looked up when Ridge walked into the room. “I heard the Barretts are hiring you away from us,” he said, winking.

“Nothing has been decided. Besides, you never actually offered me a job.”

“He was going to. I asked him to wait,” said Seraphina.

I folded my arms. “Why?”

“For a lot of reasons. First and foremost, you were still staying here at Butler Ranch. Not to mention I needed your help with the wedding.”

“What about Mom? Where will she go? I mean, if Press even agrees to this.”

“Mom is going to live with us.” She lowered her voice. “By the way, we didn’t tell Mom about…you know, you.”

“Wait. Are you serious?” I looked between my sister and her husband.

“About which part?” Seraphina whispered.

“Mom living with you.”

“Yes,” Ridge responded.

“We hadn’t necessarily planned for her to move in right away, but a few months from now, definitely.”

“Mom agreed?”

“Yes, Luisa,” I heard her shout from the other room. “They’ll need my help with my new grandbaby.”

Seraphina groaned. “Thanks, Mom. Way to spoil the surprise.”

I jumped up and hugged my sister. “You’re pregnant? Oh my God, I’m so happy for you.” I hugged Ridge too. “This is wonderful.” I felt my eyes fill with tears. It was nice to be crying over something happy, for a change.

“It’s one of the reasons we postponed the honeymoon. I’m not feeling well enough to travel much presently.”

“Why didn’t you say something sooner?” I asked.

Ridge’s phone vibrated, and he excused himself.

“We wanted to keep it between the two of us for a while. When the time comes you and the man you love find out you’re having a baby together, I’m sure you’ll feel the same way we did.”

I didn’t see that happening for me, but I wouldn’t be a Debbie Downer and spoil my sister’s happiness.

Zin came inside. “Where’s Ridge?” he stuck his head in the kitchen and asked.

“I’m not sure. He got a phone call and left,” Seraphina told him.

He nodded and went out the way he’d come in.

“See? Press must’ve said no.”

My sister shook her head. “Something else is going on. I think it’s about Beau.”
