Rollingover,Ireachfor Dylan. The bed is warm but empty. I glance at my phone on the bedside table—10:43am.Holy crap!I never sleep in this late, even when I don’t have the kids. I get up, head into the bathroom to brush my teeth, and pull out my tinted moisturizer.Screw it, I am not wearing real makeup today.

After I get dressed, I head into the main space looking for him. He’s on the couch, wearing a black tee and gray sweatpants, reading something on one of the e-readers.Fuck, he wore his glasses, too?The whole look is a lethal combination. I didn't want to disturb him, but he heard me come in anyway. “Hey, beautiful, hope I didn’t wake you.”

He moves to stand, but I gesture to stop him. “Don’t get up. You didn’t wake me, I’m just going to grab a cup of coffee and I’ll come join you.”

Disregarding my request, he continues to stand, and comes over to me. He tucks a strand of my hair behind my ear and insists, “I’ll grab it, sit down and relax. I ran up to the main cabin and grabbed some oat milk creamer for you, too.” He presses a gentle kiss to my lips and moves past me to the kitchen. I sit down, spot both e-readers on the coffee table, and pick up the one that’s currently off. Once powered on, I go to the library on the device. I’m impressed to find a variety of books—mystery, romance, fantasy, and a few biographies. I grab a blanket and make myself comfortable before downloading the sequel to a romantasy series I have been meaning to read.

Settling into the couch, Dylan comes in, handing me a cup of coffee. He sits right next to me, pulling half of my blanket on his legs, lifting his arm to rest it on the back of the couch behind me. Peeking at what I’m reading, he asks, “So, what’s this one about?”

I smile up at him. “There's this author that I am obsessed with, Marianne Scott. Her new book came out that’s part of her fantasy series. It’s about a witch who meets this prince, and you think he is the one, but I don’t think he’s endgame. I’m rooting for the wolf guy.”

His eyes widen. “I didn’t know you read fantasy books.”

“Well this is no Game of Thrones or Harry Potter. It’s more of a romance and there’s a lot more, um…sex in it.” I don’t know why I am so embarrassed, he’s had his face between my legs this whole trip.

“Huh.” A sly smile creeps across his face. “Maybe I should read it with you.”

I grab his e-reader from him. “Ok, but you have to read the first one to get what’s happening.” I download it on his device and hand it back to him. “Ok, all set.”

His arm lowers to wrap around me, pulling me closer to him as he kisses the top of my head. “Thanks.” We sit in companionable silence, reading for at least a few hours, but I check in every so often to see what part of the book he’s at. My stomach grumbles and no matter how I try to hide it, he notices. “Hey, baby, are you hungry? We didn’t have breakfast, or even lunch. I lost track of time.”

“Sure, I should probably eat something.” He sets both of our e-readers down on the coffee table, grabs our mugs, and brings them into the kitchen to put in the sink.

He looks back at me. “Hey, come here.”

“Yeah?” I walk toward him.

He wraps me in a tight hug with my arms around his waist. Letting out a sigh of contentment, he kisses my temple. “Thanks again for coming. The last few weeks have been busy with work and the girls. I really needed to get away.”

“Of course, I get it. Sometimes you need a few days to recharge the batteries.” He looks down smiling, leans down, and softly kisses me. Being with him is easy, and part of me enjoys how effortlessly we are falling back into a relationship—or whatever this is.

After putting on our shoes and grabbing our jackets, we head out on the path to the main cabin to grab a quick lunch. We talk about work, our kids and friends. I haven’t asked about his ex and he hasn’t asked about mine. I know a little from what Lily told me and I know it will be a heavy conversation. Right now, I don’t want heavy, I want easy. He suggests we take a walk around the lake, and while I could totally stay inside all day, I jump at the opportunity to stretch my legs.

Coffee in hand, we stroll along the perimeter. He hasn’t stopped touching me since I woke up this morning—his arm consistently around my shoulders or waist, or holding my hand.Is this what it’ll be like when we go back to reality?

Being with him feels like back when we were younger and would attend each other’s work and family events. He was always so proud to show everyone I was his—even if I was self-conscious about how he was the attractive one between the two of us. It’s been in the back of my mind, though…what happened? He says he was just young and dumb but I feel like there has to be more to it.Or maybe I’m just overthinking it.

After an afternoon exploring the lake and a quick trip to the grocery store, we head back to the cabin. As I finish putting the groceries away, he comes up behind me, swiftly pulling me against him. He murmurs into my hair, “I’m going to go hop in the shower real quick, then I’ll start dinner.”

I turn to face him, my hands on his chest. “Hey now, I am more than capable of starting dinner.”

“I know, but go sit down and relax. I’ll take care of it.” I lift onto my toes to kiss him. What starts as sweet, quickly becomes hot and deliciously consuming. One of his hands is in my hair, tugging slightly to tilt my head back, as he kisses along my jaw to my neck. My arms wrap behind him to bring him closer and he nips at me in response, making me chuckle.

I pull back slightly to tell him, “You should probably go shower or we’ll never have dinner.” He gives me one last peck before pulling away completely, and surprises me when his hand smacks my ass. I yelp. “Hey!”

Smirking, he replies, “Sit your sexy ass down on that couch, I’ll be out in a minute.”

I head over to the couch to pick up where I left off in my book. A few minutes later, Dylan calls my name from the bedroom. I get up from the couch, set down my book, and make my way there. As I get closer, I only hear the shower. The bathroom door is slightly ajar, I knock twice…and that’s when I hear him. “Fuck you feel so good…yes…that’s it…such a good girl taking me so well.”Oh. My. God.He’s jerking off.

Curiosity gets the best of me. I open the door slightly and manage to see him through the steam in the shower. One hand on the wall in front of him and the other stroking his thick length up and down. “Fuck yes, baby, just like that…come for me, beautiful.”Shit, shit, shit!I should not be watching him. I turn quickly, and as I am about to close the door, his voice stops me. “Like what you see, E?” I look back and he’s staring right at me with darkened eyes—almost feral, like a predictor.

I suck in a breath. “I, uh, I’m sorry…I heard my name and thought you needed something…I’ll go. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to…um…” I can’t seem to collect my thoughts, my eyes unable to look away from his chiseled body that’s glistening with beads of water.

“I’m not embarrassed, Emma.” His hand still on his cock working long, slow strokes. I shouldn’t be staring, but him doing this, thinking of me, has me so turned on, I can’t help it.

“I’m not embarrassed, either. I just, um…” My cheeks are hot, I shouldn’t be in here, but my legs won’t move.

“I’m sorry.” His hand stops stroking. “I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable.”
