I find my voice and raise my chin in indignation. “No, I’m not. Uncomfortable, that is. Keep going.” His eyes widen in surprise for just a moment before they soften. He licks his lips, where a small smirk appears. He continues slowly pumping his hand up and down as I take a step toward the shower. “Tell me what you were thinking about before I walked in.”

The lust hasn’t left his eyes. “I was thinking about how amazing it will be to have you beneath me again, to feel your tight pussy gripping my cock as you come.”

I take another step. “What else?” I take off my sweater and throw it on the ground, followed by my bra.

“Fuck, Emma, how can I think when you’re standing there topless? Do you not see what you do to me?”

I know exactly what I’m doing—I want him to lose control. I slip out of my pants slowly, giving him a show. “Do you know how turned on I am watchingyou, knowing you were thinking of me?” I’m now fully naked and take one last step toward the shower, placing my hand on the glass. Not breaking eye contact, my other hand grazes my stomach, moving lower until my fingers are right at my entrance. I tease my clit with slow, tortured circles. With our eyes locked, he comes hard and quick, with my name on his lips. He flings open the door, and grabs a towel off the hook, wiping his face and tossing it on the ground quickly. Without drying off his body, he reaches for me, thrusting me into his hard, wet chest. My arms move up and around his neck. “Dylan, you’re getting me all wet!” He reaches down, grabs my legs behind my thighs and lifts me up in one swift motion, hooking them around his waist. I close the distance, bringing my mouth to his.

He carries me into the bedroom, his lips never leaving mine. Before he sets me down on the bed, he whispers, “Do you have any idea how hot that was? You think you’re wet now, just wait until I’m done with you.”

Chapter nineteen

Dylan

Whensheundressedinthe bathroom and began touching herself, it took everything in me not to drag her into the shower with me and take her right there. That had to be the hottest thing I’ve ever experienced in…well, ever. I was already close when she walked in, but watching her play with herself did me in. She never would have done that when we were younger, and I am loving this unexpected side of her.

This weekend away with her just confirmed for me that she was always the woman I was meant to be with—I knew it from the moment I saw her, all those years ago. It has nothing to do with how sexually attracted to her I am, and everything to do with how vivacious she is. It scared the shit out of me when we were younger because when I’m with her, it feels like nothing else exists. I was so drawn to her, and she reeled me in with her ambition, warmth, and confidence. We both had huge goals, something I rarely found in women in their twenties. She knew what she wanted, and went for it in every aspect of her life.

Years later, that hasn’t changed. But she’s harder, more cautious. She’s been hurt and I know I’m partially to blame for that. I was so incredibly stupid, thinking that if I could land Emma, I should play the field to make sure she really was the one. Joke was on me because no one has ever compared to her. For years, I thought she was gone for good. She’s mine now.I don’t know what happened with her ex—you don’t let a woman like her go, you fight for her. I am not about to make that mistake again, and will do anything in my power to make this woman happy. She makes you feel like you’re the only person in the room, and breathes belief into you so you can take on the world. She feels like home.

Did I make sure she came twice for me before dinner? Hell yes, I did…but I am just getting started. I don’t just want her body, I wantall of her.

Laying on the bed, barely able to move, she asks if I can grab something for her to wear. I rummage in her suitcase to find her some comfortable clothes, spotting and holding up the leggings she was going to wear yesterday. “Seriously? You’re going to be the death of me.”

She smirks, then snatches them from my hand. “Want me to give your eulogy?”

“You expect me to make dinner, and not try to skip to dessert? Especially after that little stunt you pulled in the bathroom?” She puts on her leggings, and it isn’t lost on me that she has no underwear underneath. I toss her a shirt that she puts on without a bra.Nope, there is absolutely no way I’m going to be able to keep my hands off her while making dinner.I need to slow things down. As much as I love touching her, I want more, and I’m not going to get it if I scare her off by moving too fast.

Once we are both dressed—if you want to call it that—I lead her into the kitchen and we pull out all of the ingredients for salad and spaghetti bolognese. Cooking together, it feels perfect, as if this is the way things were always supposed to be. I can imagine coming home from work each day with us in our kitchen, making dinner for all of our kids. The daydream warms my chest and I can’t help but smile. “Hey, what are you smiling about over there?”Damn, she caught me.

“Nothing…well…that’s a lie.” I make my way over to her chopping vegetables and wrap my arms around her from behind. “I just feel like we’re in our own little world here, and I’m not wanting to go back to reality tomorrow.”

She sets everything down and turns in my arms. “You know, reality is what we make it…and if you want this, then we’ll just need to work for it.”

“Do you want this?” The question makes me feel vulnerable.Would she say no?

“Who wouldn’t want to spend their evenings like this?” She shrugs and looks away from me.

The non-answer has me pressing again. “What do you want, Emma? What does our life look like when we leave here?”

Looking up, her sparkling blue eyes search mine for her answer. “I don’t know, but we’ll take it day by day, and figure it out together.”

I lean down and press my lips to her temple, wrapping my arms tighter. “Damn, I love you.”Shit!!! Do I take it back? Do I correct myself? She freezes in my arms, I clear my throat. “I’m sorry, kind of just slipped out.”

She looks up at me with a little concern, but her eyes are otherwise soft. “It’s ok, today was pretty perfect, wasn’t it?”

“Yeah, it really was.”

She playfully pushes me away toward the stove. “Ok, Romeo, keep an eye on the sauce, or we’ll be ordering take out tonight.” She returns to her chopping, but she is smiling, stealing glances every so often.I didn’t blow it.I know she still loves me, I just need to prove that she can trust me.

After dinner, we sit on the couch in front of the fireplace. She’s reading her new fantasy book on her e-reader, cuddled up next to me, and I am halfway into a biography I started last week.I don’t want this day to end. After she finishes a few chapters, she looks up at me. “Can I be honest about something?”

“Of course, I hope you can always be honest with me.” I try to keep my expression neutral, even if the question makes me nervous.

She takes a deep breath. “We haven't talked about either of our exes, and I don’t want to pry. Well…yes I do. I would like to know what happened.”

I didn’t expect it, but I should have. “We really should have discussed it sooner. Well, there’s no nice way of saying this…Ashley left us—me and my girls. We got married young. She was only the second person I dated after you, and we got married because she was pregnant with Harriet. You asked me why I named her after the character…it's because I was still so in love with you, and wanted a piece of you to stay with me. Ashley never knew. She loved the name—and Elizabeth—so that’s what we went with for the girls. I grew to love her over the years, but in the last six or so, things were just kind of routine. We became more roommates than spouses.” She places her hand in mine, sensing how uneasy I am talking about this. I have only told Andrew and it still feels raw. “One day, I was at work and was served papers. I came home to find half of everything we owned gone. Luckily, she left all of the girls' stuff. She moved to Paris a week later with some guy from work, and we haven’t seen her since. It’s just the three of us, now.”
