As we rode along, Tech notified us on what was going on around the house. He once said a car pulled up to the house with bags of food. A woman answered the door being friendly with the man before taking the bags inside. From the number of bags he counted, there’s a good chance Deanna and Zoe were there.

Thirty minutes later, we’re two blocks from the house. Per our plan, Xander and the rest turn off to go to the back of the house. We watch as Tahir pulls up to the house, then parks. With the area being mostly deserted, Basil pulls all the way into a side driveway three houses down. The rundown houses on each side will be able to hide us from any passersby.

The sparsely lit streets lights are in our favor, giving us the cloak of the night. Going to the back of the SUV to get our gear, I tap my earpiece to let everyone know we’re ready.

Through our earpieces, we hear Tahir get out the car. Seconds later, he’s knocking on the door.

“Who is it?” a woman yell.

“Tahir,” he replies.

Old hinges squeak as the door opens. “It’s the man of the hour. I didn’t think you were going to show up. Come in. Dutch is expecting you.”

“He’s in,” Tech relays.

“Y’all look who actually showed up,” the woman laughs.

I tilt my head, listening hard to count how many other voices will speak.

“Shit, it didn’t matter if he did or didn’t. I’m keeping the little librarian,” an asshole says, making me want to run up in there and kill his ass.

The woman laughs louder, stating, “Now, you know Dutch said once we had him, he was going to let his sisters go.

Another male voice chimes in, chuckling, “And you know shit can change at any time, Slim. Plus, I think Dutch has his eyes on the librarian.”

The woman Slim, her laughter halts as she snaps, “Fuck you, Rolo. Dutch don’t want that skinny bitch. I would kill both their asses if I thought he was going to replace me with one of them bitches.”

Basil starts to walk up the driveway, but I grab his arm, stopping him.

“Not yet, brother. We’re going to get them,” I promise.

Tahir’s speaks again, “Where is Dutch and where are my sisters?”

“You don’t fucking ask us questions. Matter of fact, Rolo go over there and pat his ass down. Bitch might be packing,” the first idiot orders.

Ruffling sounds comes from Tahir’s clothes as Rolo checks him for weapons.

“He ain’t got shit, KP. Damn, Tahir, I thought you was smart. I would’ve at least come with some nun-chucks or something,” Rolo laughs. “Sit over there.”

“I’d prefer to stand,” Tahir returns.

“And I would prefer to shoot you where you stand. I’ll leave that to Dutch but don’t tempt me. Now, sit the fuck down,” the one we now know as KP commands.

Lights from a vehicle passing shines in the driveway, but not enough for us to be seen.

“A car just arrived with four men getting out,” Tech informs us. “They went inside the house.”

“Roger that,” I respond.

Checking his clip before sliding it into his gun, Basil says, “Well, that’s four more to the party.”

“And I’ll bet money one of those motherfuckers is Dutch,” Balthazar states.

“Only one way to find out,” I counter, taking the safety off my TEC-9 machine pistol. I didn’t come to negotiate shit. Me and this bad boy are here to fuck some shit up. “Move out.”

Staying in the dark recesses of the deplorable dwellings, we make our way towards the house. Balthazar and I stay on the left side of it while Basil and Alistair creep to the right side. Like we knew was the case, one of the four men who entered is indeed Dutch because we could hear him taunting Tahir after he had Rolo tie his hands behind his back. So much for using the cuff links.

“All you had to do was keep your fucking mouth shut but no, you told twelve who the fuck I was,” he angerly says.
