Baby Love McKinley

A Month Later

The arena is packed with people to celebrate the opening of Damian's Way. Kitten and I have been working hard to get it up and running. Although the full-time employees she hired do most of the heavy lifting and not so fun jobs.

Jamen and Sheena turned the stadium where the label will eventually run their own shows into an outdoor music festival for the day.

The conversion of the building isn't complete yet, but it's perfect for what they needed it for.

There's a makeshift stage and food vendors. The volunteers from the charity are offering sign-ups for the summer camp program Kitten is starting. Kids will be able to come to camp and interact with their favorite musicians and a few painters and other artists. Well, if the kids even know who we are.

Ruin and Matted Whine are on stage. They took requests from the crowd. They're currently rocking the shit out of Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody".

Their energy is palpable. I grin at Jude. He's got Bellamy strapped to his chest, and she's wearing a pair of tiny earmuffs. They're adorable and make her look a bit like a bumblebee.

Kitten squeals, shaking out her arms and grinning at me. I laugh. I've got no idea why she's so pumped up and anxious.

Lachlan and Dexter play to the crowd, bouncing around and feeding off each other. The song winds down and Kitten grabs my hand, giving it a squeeze.

She doesn't let go, and I frown as she starts to pull me out on stage. I glance back and see Jude, Vince, Storm, and Griffin following us out.

Maybe it's an announcement to thank everyone for coming to support the charity?

"We've got a once-in-a-lifetime treat for you this afternoon," Rook says, nodding to our arrival. "Please welcome Lyric Sinclair."

"You might know her as 'The Daughter of Rock'," Issac adds. He comes over to me, pulling me in for a dirty kiss as Kitten introduces herself.

Lachlan and Dex back her up so she doesn't have to say too much without them interrupting her.

"What are we performing again?" Dexter asks, handing his guitar off to a stagehand.

"'Call On Me' by Starley. Feel free to sing along if you know it," Kitten says to the audience as Callan leaves the drums and comes up to her side. "We're all chipping in for this one." Turning to me, she says, "This is for you, Love."

"I love you," Issac murmurs.

The music starts.

Saint and Lachlan start hyping the crowd as Rook strums his guitar. It's not just acoustic, they're obviously running the track to the song in the background.

Kitten wiggles her hips, singing into her microphone. She heads for me.

"Dance with me," she says softly, but the microphone picks it up.

She belts the song out, and the crowd loses their minds. There's crazy energy here today. She stares into my eyes as I listen to the lyrics. She picked a good one. I give her hand a squeeze, letting her know I feel the same way.

Kitten spins me, and I stumble into Callan's chest.

He grins, snapping along with the song. "Sorry, I think she did that on purpose. We all know I have no rhythm," he says, awkwardly swaying.

I laugh. "This is great."

We continue swaying as the crowd cheers and sings along.

"Hello, darling," Saint says, gripping my wrist and pulling me to him as they all somehow harmonize with Kitten's voice. It's unreal how talented she is. "Make sure you don't break my wife's heart."

I frown as Saint spins me into Lachlan.

"It's so weird without the belly," Lachlan says, planting his hands on my hips, but he stares at my stomach. "So now that I have you here… I'm going to need you to sweet talk Blondie into ditching the birth control."
