“Shut the fuck up!” Simon pointed at me.

“Interesting,” Shaun said as he leaned back in his chair.

“For the love of God. Please tell me he’s not our brother,” Conner said.

“He’s not. I asked him if Henry or Liam was his father, and he said no.”

“Who the hell is his father?” Simon asked.

“I haven’t a clue. We only spoke for a few moments.”

“How old is this Dr. Kind?” Sam asked.

“If I had to guess, I’d say early thirties.”

“Fuck me.” Simon shook his head.

“Relax, cousin. He’s not related. I just found it funny, and I knew you guys would get a kick out of it.” I smiled. “Especially you, Simon.”

“Kind is a common surname, I think,” Stefan said.

“Really? Because I’ve never met anyone else with the name Kind in my entire life,” Simon said. “He specifically told you that Henry or Liam wasn’t his father?”

“Yes, Simon.” I chuckled.

“Okay. Weird coincidence, but okay.”

“Trauma surgeons are cool, and I’m happy you met him. I have to go. I’ll talk to you later,” Christian said as he hung up.

“That’s all I wanted to tell you guys. Enjoy the rest of your night. I’m going to do some work and get some sleep.”

“Okay, bro. Good luck with your lecture tomorrow,” Nathan said.

Everyone hung up, and I told Shaun to wait a second.

“You didn’t get anything from 23andMe, right?” I asked.

“No.” He laughed. “But don’t forget that Simon unsubscribed me from their emails. Are you sure you’re not thinking anything?”

“Nah. It’s just that with everything this family has been through with secret children and resurrected brothers, you can’t help but question it, especially with your father’s history.”

“I know. But you said this Grayson Kind said that Henry or Liam wasn’t his father, so I think we’re good.”

Igot up, had breakfast, and headed to Mass General for the conference the following morning. When we broke for lunch, I went down to the E.R. to see if my friend was working.

“There he is.” I smiled as I saw Jonathan standing at the nurse’s station.

“Jackson?” He cocked his head. “Oh my God, man. It’s good to see you.” We hugged.

“Good to see you too. How have you been?”

“Great. I’m married now.” He held up his left hand. “And I have a baby on the way.”

“Congratulations.” I patted his shoulder. “I’m getting married this June.”

“Wow. Seriously? Didn’t you swear you’d never get married again after Jane?”
