“She almost passed out,” Emilia said. “Her heart rate is 170.”

“What?” I furrowed my brows as I took her pulse.

“Call Cedars E.R. and tell them we’re on our way. Also, have them page Christian.”

“I’ll go do it now. You’re going to be okay.” Emilia smiled as she squeezed Georgia’s hand.

“Jackson. I’m fine.”

“You’re not fine, Georgia. Your heart rate is 170.” I helped her up. “Come on.”

“I’m really dizzy,” she said.

I picked her up, and when we stepped into the hallway, Conner and Nathan ran over.

“Georgia sunshine, what’s going on?” Conner gave her a sympathetic look as he placed his hand on her arm.

“Tell June to clear my schedule for the rest of the day,” I said.

“Did you let Christian know you’re on your way?” Nathan asked.

“Emilia is having him paged.”

I carried Georgia out of the medical center and laid her down in the back seat of my car.

“Babe, are you having any chest pain?”

“No. Not at all,” she said.

I pulled up to the emergency room, where a nurse was waiting outside with a wheelchair.

“I want her taken back right away,” I said.

“Of course, Dr. Kind.”

I helped Georgia from the wheelchair and onto the bed. I had never been as scared as I was at this moment.

“Hey, you two.” Charleigh walked in. “Christian will be down in a few. He just got out of surgery. I got this,” Charleigh spoke to the nurse. “What is going on with you, Dr. Scott?” she asked as she hooked her up to the vitals monitor.

“Her heart rate was 170. She’s dizzy, and she almost passed out,” I spoke.

“Are you having any chest pain?” Charleigh asked.

“No.”

“Shortness of breath?”

“No.”

“Your heart rate is 158. I’m going to place an order for a beta blocker to get that lowered. Let’s get your IV in, and then we’ll get an electrocardiogram.”

“I have to get back to work. I’m fine,” Georgia spoke.

“You are not fine,” I said as I leaned over and kissed her forehead. “Just relax.”
